Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AS WE ENTER THE 21ST CENTURY faced with current global and human crises, society is being questioned as never before. In The Consciousness Revolution three pioneers at the cutting-edge of Western thought reflect on the chances of peace in the world, on how society is changing, and on the changes we can make in ourselves. They consider the roles of art, science, education, goals and values, world views, religion, spirituality and, above all, consciousness -- for the state of our consciousness is the key issue underlying almost everything else. As Ken Wilber asks in his Foreword, what does it all finally come down to? Peter Russell put it like this: 'Each little bit counts ... we are all part of the same ground-swell. The most important question we need to ask is how can I put my own life in greater alignment with that ground-swell? How can I do my little one-hundred-thousandth worth to facilitate that shift a bit further? These intense and memorable discussions among three of the finest minds of our time convey a sense of excitement and passion which we can carry forward in our own lives. The Consciousness Revolution is an essential guide to how our map of reality is changing in the midst of the global transformations going on in all parts of the world and in every sphere of life, in us and around us.

This change needs to be individual. It is up to each of us, and it is our responsibility to make this world a better place. Because it is far from being OK, and there is no evidence more convincing than today's human. But he is free to choose whether he will continue his development on the conscious level or not. Life is a game, but it is hard to play with people who don’t know the rules. Just as each machine has its own instructions for use, it is the same with life and people. And they are actually very simple instructions. When each of us starts working individually, it will join us all together. This book was not written to be liked - it should be, above all, understood. God, Sex, Money, Ego, Morality, (mass)Media, Love, Meditation, Esotericism, Consciousness, Education, etc. - the real holistic view.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about all things consciousness, great and small. It starts by pointing to the key characteristic of consciousness, without realizing which it cannot be understood: like everything else about the mind, it is fundamentally a kind of computation. Among many other matters, this explains: how it is that we share some aspects of consciousness with bacteria; how it can arise in artificial machines and not just living ones; how the empty cocoon of the self that it spins ends up pretending to be the butterfly; and how consciousness dooms this virtual butterfly to the splendor and the suffering of being awake and aware. Unlike most other books on consciousness, this one includes a discussion of some possible ways whereby we, pinned like butterflies by our species’ history and socioeconomic circumstances, can awake to our collective predicament and join forces to do something about it. It should be of interest to all readers who care about the nature of our lived experience — and about our survival, which depends on developing critical consciousness of our dire situation and the social dynamics that shape it.

Today, a brand's value is often defined by its self-awareness, true authenticity, and relevancy. If a brand isn't in complete synergy with the consumers' tastes, sensibilities, and desires, there is more to worry about than a logo. Consumers are looking for brands that will impact their lives in tangible, positive, and lasting ways.

Book excerpt: It has been said that once we know that we are not alone, the greatest revolution in human culture will occur. My personal meetings with the visitors showed me that this experience was completely different from the reality we know. This was an encounter with the complete unknown, and during this visit, I feared for my sanity. In those moments I was not able to understand the experience rationally. Trying to fully understand what transpired has become the project of my life.Communicating with the visitors at that meeting was not like the familiar communications that we normally have, they did not speak to me in words or any language, they shared with me their consciousness. They allowed me to experience their thoughts, their feelings ... their existence and their perception of reality.During the time of our shared consciousness, I could see who we truly are - from their perspective, which is so vastly different than our own.At the beginning of the encounter, I experienced terrible fear, as I overcame it, I experienced the most profound and meaningful content of my life. Content that led to the writing of this book.In the first part of the book, I am sharing the experience of the encounter itself, exactly as it happened, and then the physical, psychological and mental impact that followed. The second part of the book is written after a gradual journey of understanding the experience and the meaning of the communication in depth, a journey that lasts about 30 years, still today continues. Years in which the experience of their abstracted consciousness became clear, and the different parts of it merged into one complete picture.Throughout this time, the visitors support and continue to help me, in their unique way, of understanding what they are, how their vast consciousness sees reality, the special connection between their consciousness and that of us, and most importantly, who we are, and our evolutionary process of consciousness.I hope that sharing my experiences will help in our shared journey into the new spaces we are going to, one where we realize that we are not alone.I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I'm sure trying to understand.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A thought-provoking argument that consciousness—more widespread than previously assumed—is the feeling of being alive, not a type of computation or a clever hack In The Feeling of Life Itself, Christof Koch offers a straightforward definition of consciousness as any subjective experience, from the most mundane to the most exalted—the feeling of being alive. Psychologists study which cognitive operations underpin a given conscious perception. Neuroscientists track the neural correlates of consciousness in the brain, the organ of the mind. But why the brain and not, say, the liver? How can the brain—three pounds of highly excitable matter, a piece of furniture in the universe, subject to the same laws of physics as any other piece—give rise to subjective experience? Koch argues that what is needed to answer these questions is a quantitative theory that starts with experience and proceeds to the brain. In The Feeling of Life Itself, Koch outlines such a theory, based on integrated information. Koch describes how the theory explains many facts about the neurology of consciousness and how it has been used to build a clinically useful consciousness meter. The theory predicts that many, and perhaps all, animals experience the sights and sounds of life; consciousness is much more widespread than conventionally assumed. Contrary to received wisdom, however, Koch argues that programmable computers will not have consciousness. Even a perfect software model of the brain is not conscious. Its simulation is fake consciousness. Consciousness is not a special type of computation—it is not a clever hack. Consciousness is about being.

Book excerpt: Advisor of Leadership at Google and former vice president of leadership at LinkedIn claims that the biggest driver of motivation is the chance to serve a larger purpose beyond our careers and ourselves, rather than salary, benefits, bonuses, or other material incentives; companies that are able to successfully focus their people, their teams, and their culture around meaning outperform their competition. Fred Kofman's approach to leadership has little to do with the standard practices taught in business school and traditional books. Bringing together economics and business theory, communications and conflict resolution, family counseling and mindfulness mediation, Kofman argues in The Meaning Revolution that our most deep-seated, unspoken, and universal anxiety stems from our fear that our life is being wasted--that the end of life will overtake us when our song is still unsung. Material incentives--salary and benefits--account for perhaps 15 percent of employees' motivation at work. The other 85 percent is driven by a need to belong, a feeling that what we do day in and day out makes a difference, that how we spend our time on earth serves a larger purpose beyond just ourselves. Kofman claims that transcendental leaders, wherever they are in the hierarchy, are able to put aside their self-interests and help others to feel connected with others on a team or in an organization on a great mission and part of an ennobling purpose. He argues that every organization involved in work that is nonviolent and non addictive has what he calls an "immortality project" at its core. And the challenge for leaders is to identify and expand on that core, to inspire all stakeholders to take part.
