Book Synopsis Oscillometry and Conductometry by : E. Pungor
Download or read book Oscillometry and Conductometry written by E. Pungor and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oscillometry and Conductometry deals with oscillometry and conductometry and covers topics ranging from the conductivity and dielectric constant of a solution and their determination, to instruments used in carrying out conductometric and oscillometric measurements. Acid-base titrations and titrations based on precipitation, complex formation, and redox reactions are also discussed. A number of applications of conductometry and oscillometry are considered. This volume is comprised of 18 chapters and begins with an overview of the fundamentals of electrical conductivity, its theoretical interpretation, and how it is affected by temperature. The relation between ionic interaction and conductivity of solutions is also described, with emphasis on the Wien effect and the Debye effect. The theoretical fundamentals of the determination of conductivity using direct and alternating currents are then outlined. Subsequent chapters explore the principles and the devices used in determining dielectric constants; conductometric and oscillometric instruments; the titration of acids and bases; and acid-base titrations in aqueous and non-aqueous media. The final section is devoted to applications of conductometry and oscillometry, including kinetic studies and chromatographic analysis. This monograph will be of interest to analytical chemists.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motivated by the importance of electrical resistivity and conductivity, important experts in this field grasp most recent researches in this book. It addresses recent advances in electrical resistivity and conductivity modelling, measurement, estimation and sensing methods and implications. This book introduces innovative case studies for "Electrical Resistivity Sensing Methods and Implications", "Resistivity Model of Frozen Soil and High-Density Resistivity Method for Exploration of Discontinuous Permafrost", "Measurement of Electrical Resistivity for Unconventional Structures", "Estimation of Hydrological Parameters from Geoelectric Measurements" and "Assessment of Cryoprotectant Concentration by Electrical Conductivity Measurement and Its Applications in Cryopreservation". These recent advances are well prepared and presented in six chapters. These chapters are carefully selected to reflect current variable techniques, new concepts and methods related to the book's topic from different perspectives.

Book Synopsis The Interpretation of Ionic Conductivity in Liquids by : Stuart I. Smedley
Download or read book The Interpretation of Ionic Conductivity in Liquids written by Stuart I. Smedley and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The phenomenon of electrical conductance in liquids is of great impor tance to the technologist, as well as to the theoretical scientist. A glance at Chemical Abstracts will reveal that electrical conductivity can be used as an analytical tool for such diverse substances as concrete and suntan lotion as well as a tool for elucidating the dynamics of molecules in simple liquids. It is a phenomenon that is relatively easily measured, which explains the great diversity of conductance studies that span a range of experimental conditions unequalled in the study of nonequilibrium phenomena. It is clearly impossible for one book, notwithstanding the ability of one author, to cope with so much information or to cover even a significant fraction of the literature on this subject. However, I believe it is possible to bring together in one monograph the mainstream ideas on the interpretation of the phenomenon in relatively simple systems. It is hoped that this book will achieve this result and will provide a concise and coherent account of the interpretation of ionic conductivity in dilute electrolyte solutions, concentrated solutions, low-temperature or glass-forming molten salts, ionic melts, molecular fluids, and fluids of geological and industrial inter est. Most of these topics have been discussed in other books and review articles, but to the best of my knowledge they have not been gathered together in a single monograph.
