Book excerpt: The13thInternationalConferenceonMedicalImageComputingandComputer- Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2010, was held in Beijing, China from 20-24 September,2010.ThevenuewastheChinaNationalConventionCenter(CNCC), China’slargestandnewestconferencecenterwith excellentfacilities andaprime location in the heart of the Olympic Green, adjacent to characteristic constr- tions like the Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) and the Water Cube (National Aquatics Center). MICCAI is the foremost international scienti?c event in the ?eld of medical image computing and computer-assisted interventions. The annual conference has a high scienti?c standard by virtue of the threshold for acceptance, and accordingly MICCAI has built up a track record of attracting leading scientists, engineersandcliniciansfromawiderangeoftechnicalandbiomedicaldisciplines. This year, we received 786 submissions, well in line with the previous two conferences in New York and London. Three program chairs and a program committee of 31 scientists, all with a recognized standing in the ?eld of the conference, were responsible for the selection of the papers. The review process was set up such that each paper was considered by the three program chairs, two program committee members, and a minimum of three external reviewers. The review process was double-blind, so the reviewers did not know the identity of the authors of the submission. After a careful evaluation procedure, in which all controversialand gray area papers were discussed individually, we arrived at a total of 251 accepted papers for MICCAI 2010, of which 45 were selected for podium presentation and 206 for poster presentation. The acceptance percentage (32%) was in keeping with that of previous MICCAI conferences. All 251 papers are included in the three MICCAI 2010 LNCS volumes.

Book Synopsis Textiles, Identity and Innovation: In Touch by : Gianni Montagna
Download or read book Textiles, Identity and Innovation: In Touch written by Gianni Montagna and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: D_Tex is proposed as a hub around which it is possible to look at textiles in their different forms, in order to better understand, study, adapt and project them for the future. It is intended to build a flow of ideas and concepts so that participants can arrive at new ideas and concepts and work them in their own way, adapting them to their objectives and research. D_Tex is intended as a space for sharing and building knowledge around textile material in order to propose new understandings and explorations. Present in all areas of knowledge, the textile material bets on renewed social readings and its evolutions to constantly reinvent itself and enable innovative cultural and aesthetic dimensions and unexpected applications to solve questions and promote new knowledge. D_Tex proposes to promote discussion and knowledge in the different areas where textiles, with all their characteristics, can ensure an important contribution, combining material and immaterial knowledge, innovative and traditional techniques, technological and innovative materials and methods, but also new organization and service models, different concepts and views on teaching. With the renewed idea of the intrinsic interdisciplinarity of design and sharing with different areas that support each other, the research and practice of textiles was proposed by the D_TEX Textile Design Conference 2019, held June 19-21, 2019 at the Lisbon School of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, Portugal under the theme "In Touch" where, as broadly understood as possible, different areas of textiles were regarded as needing to keep in touch with each other and end users in order to promote and share the best they can offer for the welfare of their users and consumers.
