Written by Dr. Edmond Bedrossian, one of only a few specialists doing zygoma implants, Treatment Planning for the Fully Endentulous Patient: A Graftless Approach to Immediate Loading covers the latest advances in implants, products, and techniques. The book discusses the broader issues of working with the edentulous patient, then describes 1-stage and 2-stage protocols, immediate loading, and the graftless approach. Also included are insightful discussions of case studies and coverage of new software that helps to improve outcomes in treatment planning and surgery. Over 1,000 full-color illustrations depict implant techniques and products. Coverage of the Graftless Approach includes two concepts: 1) the anterior tilted implant, and 2) the zygoma implant, each eliminating the need for grafts and producing an implant site less prone to infection and with a quicker healing time. A Computer Guided Surgery chapter covers the latest software developed for treatment planning, creating the surgical template, laboratory procedures, and fabrication of the prosthetics. Case presentations on immediate loading tilted implants and zygoma implants appear at the end of the book, each a beginning-to-end study from Dr. Bedrossian’s own archives. Coverage of broader issues related to the edentulous patient includes a discussion of special needs, demographics, and the systemic pretreatment of these patients including bone composites and overall esthetic and functional goals.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Implant dentistry has become a standard option for the rehabilitation of fully and partially edentulous patients. With the ever-increasing number of dentists involved in implant dentistry, it is essential to ensure that their treatment methods follow the highest standard. The ITI Treatment Guide series, a compendium of evidence-based implant-therapy techniques in daily practice, is written by renowned clinicians and provides a comprehensive overview of various therapeutic options. Using an illustrated step-by-step approach, the ITI Treatment Guide shows practitioners how to manage different clinical situations, with the emphasis on sound diagnostics, evidence-based treatment concepts, and predictable treatment outcomes. The second volume of the ITI Treatment Guide is devoted to the restoration of partially dentate patients. Central to this volume of the ITI Treatment Guide are loading protocols available to the clinician and the patient and how they relate to various treatment indications, including both single and multiple missing teeth in the posterior and anterior regions of the mouth. Among potential topics for upcoming volumes are implant placement in extraction sockets, loading protocols in edentulous patients, implant therapy in the esthetic zone in extended edentulous spaces, and many more.

Considerations relevant to treatment planning and the biomechanics of immediate loading and zygomatic implants are first discussed. The techniques for placement of traditional tilted and zygomatic implants and for immediate loading of a full arch restoration are then described step by step. Detailed information and guidance are also provided on the different materials available for full arch restorations, laboratory aspects of the definitive restoration, maintenance of restorations, and management of prosthetic and surgical complications. The book concludes with a helpful series of clinical cases. Graftless Solutions for the Edentulous Patient is designed particularly for clinicians with experience in placing and restoring dental implants.

This book was released on 2005 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prosthetic complications of patients with a maxillary complete denture (CD) opposing a mandibular Implant- Supported Fixed/Removable Prosthesis (ISFRP). This study is a retrospective analysis of an ongoing prospective study. Dental records from 46 patients treated with a maxillary CD and a mandibular ISFRP were reviewed for fifteen different prosthetic complications. The mean recall time was 7.9 years. The percentage of patients exhibiting each complication and corresponding 95% confidence intervals were calculated. The recall period was divided into three parts: (A) 0-2 years (B) >25 years (C) 5 years. Logistic regression analysis determined the effect of recall period, age and gender on each of the following major complications: tooth fracture, complete denture relines, screw complications, and tooth replacement. Statistical significance was exhibited for: complete denture relines, posterior tooth replacement, and screw complications. The most common complications include prosthetic tooth fracture, tooth wear, maxillary hard relines, and screw complications. There were no incidents of framework fracture or abutment fracture. Patients were: .06 times more likely to require a heat processed hard reline with each year increase of age. Patients were 3.7 times after two to five years of service and 8.5 times after five years of service, more likely to require a hard reline than in the first two years of service. Patients were 52.5 times more likely to need posterior tooth replacement after five years of service than in the first two years, and 39.9 times more likely to encounter a screw complication after five years of service than in the first two years of service.
