Book excerpt: High temperature superconducting system Bi2Sr2Ca(n-1)Cu(n)O(2n+4+ ) n=2,3,4 was prepared by using solid state reaction in oxygen. The nominal composition (n) has major effect on the critical temperature of superconductor compound. The sample prepared with n=2 has critical temperature Tc=104 K, meanwhile the sample prepared with n=4 has critical temperature Tc=86 K, however, the sample that was prepared with n=3 has a maximum critical temperature Tc=110 K. High temperature superconducting system HgBa2Ca(n-1)Cu(n)O(2n+2+ ) n=2,3,4 was prepared by using sealed evacuate Quartz tube. The sample prepared with n=2 has critical temperature Tc=118 K, meanwhile the sample prepared with n=4 has critical temperature Tc=122 K, and for sample that was prepared with n=3 has a maximum critical temperature Tc=126 K"
Book Synopsis La-Ba-Ca-Cu-O Superconductors by : Pramoda Kumar Nayak
Download or read book La-Ba-Ca-Cu-O Superconductors written by Pramoda Kumar Nayak and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book deals with a brief study on a new class of high temperature superconductors (La-Ba-Ca-Cu-O) with special emphasis on their crystal structure, electrical transport and magnetic properties. It contains five chapters as follows: Chapter 1 starts with historical overview; where, the discovery of superconductivity followed by many hall mark discoveries in experimental and theoretical superconductivity have been reviewed briefly. Theoretical background on excess conductivity, fluctuation magneto-conductivity, critical state models and the derivation of magnetization using critical state models are reviewed. Chapter 2 describes the experimental techniques used for sample synthesis and characterization. In chapter 3, the detailed analysis of thermodynamic fluctuations induced excess conductivity on selected samples of the above series with and without magnetic field are presented. In chapter 4, the temperature and ac field amplitude variations of ac susceptibility have been discussed. Finally in Chapter 5, the important conclusions drawn from the physical measurements and analysis carried out on the above series of superconducting materials are summarized.

This book was released on 1990-02-01 with total page 718 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of Physical Properties of High Temperature Superconductors I, research in the field of high temperature superconductivity has continued at a rapid pace. Volume II will contain chapters on some of the major areas of activity which were not covered extensively in Volume I: structure, microstructure, thermodynamics, oxygen stoichiometry effects, nuclear magnetic and quadrupole resonance, Hall effect, electronic structure, and the pairing state. Like Volume I, it will present authoritative and comprehensive reviews written by recognized experts in the field. This book should be useful to all students, scientists, and engineers who desire to know more about high temperature superconductivity.
Book Synopsis Physical Properties of High Temperature Superconductors III by : Donald M. Ginsberg
Download or read book Physical Properties of High Temperature Superconductors III written by Donald M. Ginsberg and published by World Scientific. The preparation and characterization of bulk samples is also reviewed.
Book Synopsis New Research on YBCO Superconductors by : David M. Friedman
Download or read book New Research on YBCO Superconductors written by David M. Friedman and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2008 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Superconductivity is the ability of certain materials to conduct electrical current with no resistance and extremely low losses. High temperature superconductors, such as La2-xSrxCuOx (Tc=40K) and YBa2Cu3O7-x (Tc=90K), were discovered in 1987 and have been actively studied since. In spite of an intense world-wide research, a complete understanding of the copper oxide (cuprate) materials is still lacking. Many fundamental questions are unanswered, particularly the mechanism by which high-Tc superconductivity occurs. More broadly, the cuprates are in a class of solids with strong electron-electron interactions. An understanding of such 'strongly correlated' solids is perhaps the major unsolved problem of condensed matter physics with over ten thousand researchers working on this topic. High-Tc superconductors also have significant potential for applications in technologies ranging from electric power generation and transmission to digital electronics. This ability to carry large amounts of current can be applied to electric power devices such as motors and generators, and to electricity transmission in power lines. For example, superconductors can carry as much as 100 times the amount of electricity of ordinary copper or aluminium wires of the same size. This Publication presents new research on yttrium barium copper oxide superconductors, often abbreviated YBCO, which is a chemical compound with the formula YBa2Cu3O7. This material, a famous 'high-temperature superconductor', achieved prominence because it was the first material to superconduct above the boiling point of nitrogen. All materials developed before YBCO became superconducting only at temperatures near the boiling points of liquid helium or liquid hydrogen (Tb = 20.1 K). The significance of the discovery of YBCO is the breakthrough in the refrigerant used to cool the material to below the critical temperature.
