This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The former FIP Commission Prefabrication drafted the FIP Recommendations on the design of Precast prestressed hollow core floors, published by FIP in 1988 (Telford, London, ISBN 0-7277-1375-2). That document was highly appreciated by designers and public authorities because of the lack of guidance available elsewhere, especially with respect to some specific features of the product, for example the absence of transverse reinforcement. It has also served as a reference guide for national standards and especially for the CEN product standard on prestressed hollow core slabs. During the production of that report it was felt that some design rules were incomplete or missing. In addition, research carried out since has resulted in complementary knowledge on the behaviour of hollow core floors, for example in combination with slender floor beams. The present guide to good practice is intended to complement the existing recommendations. The research for the different items was carried out at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), VTT (Finland), University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), Building Research Institute (Poland), and the University of Rome (Italy).
Book Synopsis PCI Manual for the Design of Hollow Core Slabs by : Donald R. Buettner
Download or read book PCI Manual for the Design of Hollow Core Slabs written by Donald R. Buettner and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document is intended to cover the primary design requirements for hollow core floor and roof systems. In instances where the design is no different than for other prestressed members, the PCI Design Handbook and the ACI Building Code should be consulted for more in-depth discussion. For the architect or consulting engineer, this manual is intended as a guideline for working with hollow core slabs, a guide for the use and application of hollow core slabs and an indication of some of the limitations of hollow core slabs. For the plant engineer, the manual will hopefully present some backup and reference material for dealing with everyday design problems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Precast Concrete Structures introduces the conceptual design ideas for the prefabrication of concrete structures and presents a number of worked examples that translate designs from BS 8110 to Eurocode EC2, before going into the detail of the design, manufacture, and construction of precast concrete multi-storey buildings. Detailed structural analysis of precast concrete and its use is provided and some details are presented of recent precast skeletal frames of up to forty storeys. The theory is supported by numerous worked examples to Eurocodes and European Product Standards for precast reinforced and prestressed concrete elements, composite construction, joints and connections and frame stability, together with extensive specifications for precast concrete structures. The book is extensively illustrated with over 500 photographs and line drawings.

Book Synopsis Precast, Prestressing & Post-Tensioning Technology by : Nirajan Kumar Jha
Download or read book Precast, Prestressing & Post-Tensioning Technology written by Nirajan Kumar Jha and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2023-07-05 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First, we have to understand what is precast concrete. Precast concrete can also be called readymade concrete or prefabricated concrete. Following is the definition of precast concrete. The form of construction where concrete is cast in a reusable mold and then cured in a controlled environment (a precast plant) is called precast concrete. The casted structural member is then transported to the construction site and then erected. Structural members such as concrete frames, concrete walls, concrete floors, etc. can be constructed using precast concrete. There are many precast concrete advantages. They are discussed below. 1. Saves Construction Time: Precast Concrete construction saves time, and the risk of project delay is also less. The precast concrete casting can be carried on simultaneously with other works on site such as earthwork, survey, etc., and thus saves time. It is a major advantage of precast concrete. 2. Quality Assurance: The key factors which regulate the quality of construction such as curing, temperature, mix design, formwork, etc. can be monitored for pre-cast concrete. So, improved quality construction can be performed. 3. Usage of Prestressed Concrete: By using pre-stressed precast, structural materials of high strength and load-bearing capacity can be achieved, which can result in greater clear span, reduced size of the cross-section of structural members, etc 4. Cost-effective: The simplified construction process reduces time and increases productivity, quality, and safety and thus the cost is reduced. 5. Durability: Precast Concrete structure has a longer service time period and minimal maintenance. The high-density Precast Concrete is more durable against acid attack, corrosion, and impact, reduces surface voids, and resists the accumulation of dust.

Book Synopsis Flat Roof Construction Manual by : Klaus Sedlbauer
Download or read book Flat Roof Construction Manual written by Klaus Sedlbauer and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-12-17 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
