How many attempts there were before success crowned the first efforts; or, alas! How often the thing had to be given up until some future time, perhaps centuries later! How the primitive inventor, prompted by some feel ing, he knew not what, working solely for his own interest and profit. Without thought of financial reward, or the higher incitement of doing good to his fellows, blindly groped along, confident that he could suc ceed where success had never yet beckoned; assured that he could accomplish, where none as yet had accomplished!
