Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is hope. God can save your church. In this book, Thom Rainer reveals seven findings of revived churches. Through new research, he figuratively dissects hundreds of churches that were on the path toward death. But they turned around. They revitalized. They did so in the face of facts and naysayers who told them it could not be done. Today, three out of four churches are declining in our nation, and twenty percent of churches are close to death. What are the secrets of the churches who avoided this fate and experienced revival? In Anatomy of a Revived Church, Thom will show you how these churches experienced renewal. He will cover everything from “expanding the scorecard” to “dealing with toxins” to “choosing meaningful membership.” When you finish reading this book, you will have the tools to strengthen, restore, and energize your church. You can choose life for your church.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is with the heart that we believe. When we receive Jesus into our hearts, we are declared His own and are transformed into His likenessinto a new person in Christ. The sad reality is that while many Christians truly believe, they struggle to find a clear picture of how spiritual transformation is to take place in their life. Over and over, the Bible points to the heart as the agent of our transformation, but the scriptures do not refer to the physical heart beating in our chests. But could they? What if the physical heart could serve as a compelling model of spiritual development and transformation? Drawing from examples in scripture as well as her own challenges with grasping the concept of spiritual transformation, in The Anatomy of The Heart, JaNeen Dancy challenges readers to take a closer look at the physical heart for insightful analysis of the spiritual heart. The hearts at the center of our physical life and spiritual life may be more similar than we know, and a greater understanding of one may lead to a deeper understanding, and ultimate victory, in the other.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Anatomy of Myth is a comprehensive study of the different methods of interpreting myths developed by the Greeks, adopted by the Romans, and eventually passed on to Jewish and Christian interpreters of the Bible. Greek thinkers only rarely saw "myth" as a category of thought in its own right. Most often they viewed myths as the creation of poets, or else as an ancient revelation that had been corrupted by them. In the first instance, critics attempted to find in the intention of the authors some deeper truth, whether physical or spiritual; in the second, they deemed it necessary to clear away poetic falsehoods in order to recapture an ancient revelation. Parallel to the philosophical critiques were the efforts of early historians to explain myths as exaggerated history; myths could be purified by logos (reason) and rendered believable. Practically all of these early methods could be lumped under the term "allegory"--to intend something different from what one expressed. Only occasionally did philosophers veer from a concern for the literal truth of myths but a few thinkers, while acknowledging myths as fictions, defended their value for the examples of good and bad human behavior they offered. These early efforts were invaluable for the development of critical thinking, enabling public criticism of even the most authoritative texts. The Church Fathers took the interpretative methods of their pagan contemporaries and applied them vigorously to their reading of the scriptures. Pagan Greek methods of myth interpretation passed into the Middle Ages and beyond, serving as a perennial defense against the damaging effects of scriptural literalism and fundamentalism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The characters in this story portray our Christian society as broken. Theology alone was found to be lacking of the all-important substance which could restore Christ's fragmented body. From the birth of the church in the first century to the present, Christianity has been fragmented by the lack of love. Paul taught the early firstcentury Christian churches to be patient, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity (Eph. 4:23 NIV). Unity is the theme within the pages of The Christian Anatomy at a Glance. We neither intend to compromise Christ's law nor legitimize all church law. Among parts of the body of Christ, Christian unity was found as love, and grace was practiced. Our emphasis of conformity has now dissipated from a gloomy day of the past into one filled with sunshine and hope. We replaced legalism by loving and hoping for real unity of Christ's church. The husband of Linda, much more than a wife for over fifty-two years, parented together four: Debbie, Jimmy, Dana, and Kristy. He is a grandfather of ten, Cal, JD, Brandon, Madison, Rees, Owen, Ashlyn, Hayden, Cooper, and Harrison. His education consists of High School and United States Navy schools in the field of ordinance, Charleston Naval Shipyard. He has been self-employed for forty-three years, a manufacturer of machined components vital to river and oceangoing vessels, surveying and performing on-site specialty machining projects in international locations including Doha, Bahrain, Africa, Japan, China, South Central and North America. His formal education may be minimal, but self-education is extensive, focusing on faith in God, motivated by hard work and a determination to succeed. Christ has been a dominant force in his life from early boyhood. As a pilot for the past forty-eight years, the consuming passion for flying has played a huge roll in his life.
