Book Synopsis Parables of Love from Mom by : Chamisa Loraine Howard
Download or read book Parables of Love from Mom written by Chamisa Loraine Howard and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-06-10 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When my children were small and my husband in college, I continued to recreate the stories my parents told me as a child about animals having personalities and their teaching abilities. I used the stories to teach my children moral principles through fables. They knew if they went to bed by 8:00 p.m., they would get another chapter of some favorite pretend stories, spun out night after night, chapter by chapter. Many of these stories led to daytime adventures as the kids lifted up flat rocks in search of Harvey Rabbit's magic hole with the candy factory. They made horn toads into pets and few a mouse in box fitted with a running wheel. In 1989, I decided to write down some of those favorite stories to give my now grown children as a Christmas present. My artist sister illustrated these stories for me. The compilation of stories has been sitting in my cedar chest for 30 years, until recently, when I had them re-printed for my now growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. God bless each and every child out there, that they may come to know in their head and heart that we are all God's angels placed here on earth with extraordinary abilities in order to love and bless each other's lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let us hope that humankind has not invented a Frankenstein that goes by the name of Artificial Intelligence. After all, the useful application of atomic energy is a helpful thing; the atomic bomb is something else... The pixies, although finding themselves in the distant past, brought about by the mismanagement of Artificial Intelligence, come to realise that the problems of yesteryear have, sadly, been repeated in the world from which they have been forcefully ejected. They discover that in the past, pickpockets are much the same as the modern-day variety; that bullies are still a threat, be it an individual or a group; that the ways and means of the confidence trickster haven’t really changed, playing on the greed of individuals; and, thankfully, that humour and kindness can lighten many dark corners in the life of humanity. The pixies’ most important realisation are incidents from the past, for reasons that are really unknown, have been changed for modern day consumption; then in their own inimitable way, either by accident or design, attempt, with some success, to right the wrongs of days gone by.

Book Synopsis Adventures with Ari by : Kathryn Miles
Download or read book Adventures with Ari written by Kathryn Miles and published by Skyhorse Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2009-04-01 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Merle’s Door was a sensation because Ted Kerasote writes so beautifully about his dog and his dog’s love of the land. In Adventures wtih Ari, Kathryn Miles takes a step back from the wild places Kerasote describes. When she adopts Ari, an exotic Jindo dog, the two of them begin to explore the outdoors together. A dog sees the world quite differently from a person. For starters, he or she is much closer to the ground—to what we’ve been trying to preserve more and more of these days. A dog is the original environmental activist: The sights, sounds, and smells of nature are what make a dog a dog. And if you want to learn more about nature, try enjoying life like a dog. Kathryn Miles sets out to do just that when she becomes determined to let Ari live life on her own terms. Once some basic ground rules are set, Kathryn takes the leash off her dog and the blinders off her own eyes. A new world soon emerges: She and Ari explore a backyard landscape of grass, mud, snow, trees, and the occasional fox. They find the scent of a northern wind, the footprints of a startled raccoon, and other secrets of the natural world. The puppy’s free-spirited outlook teaches Kathryn to see more when she might otherwise have seen less, while adding a certain excitement and clarity of vision. Soon, Kathryn begins to give up control and know the world as Ari learns it. Peppered with factual information about our natural world and the creatures that inhabit it, Adventures with Ari makes compelling reading for dog lovers as well as anyone who’s been out and about in the woods. Like most projects of discovery, this process forces Kathryn to uncover much more than the physical—it allows important insight to her thoughts and feelings and her relationship with her entire family, all thanks to a puppy named Ari.
