In both instances the Abernathy genes prevailed and neither one practiced abstinence which was a more serious situation with Umberto than with Malcolm. Their lives and exploits are not to be taken too seriously. They are obviously figments of the imagination of the author, and are meant to be enjoyed or possibly envied.
