Book Synopsis Security, Governance, and Challenges of the New Generation of Cyber-Physical-Social Systems by : Yuanyuan Huang
Download or read book Security, Governance, and Challenges of the New Generation of Cyber-Physical-Social Systems written by Yuanyuan Huang and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-11-06 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the transformation of devices and systems into intelligent, interconnected entities has given rise to concepts widely recognized as the Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber-physical systems (CPSs). The integration of social networks with CPSs leads to an innovative paradigm known as cyber-physical-social systems (CPSSs). The CPSS, harmonizing the cyber, physical, and social spaces, constitutes the next evolution of intelligent systems. It is founded on the integration of embedded systems, computer networks, control theory, and sensor networks. A typical CPSS is comprised of sensors, controllers, actuators, and communication networks. Its salience is found in the seamless connection of physical devices to the Internet and social networks, thereby imbuing these devices with capabilities such as computation, communication, precise control, remote coordination, and autonomy. The applicability of CPSS spans diverse fields, including intelligent transportation systems, telemedicine, smart grid technology, aerospace, smart home appliances, environmental monitoring, intelligent buildings, defense systems, and weaponry. Thus, CPSS stands as a vital component in a nation's essential infrastructure."

Book Synopsis Gabor and Wavelet Frames by : Say Song Goh
Download or read book Gabor and Wavelet Frames written by Say Song Goh and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gabor and wavelet analyses have found widespread applications in signal analysis, image processing and many other information-related areas. Both deliver representations that are simultaneously local in time and in frequency. Due to their significance and success in practical applications, they formed some of the core topics of the program ?Mathematics and Computation in Imaging Science and Information Processing?, which was held at the Institute for Mathematical Sciences, National University of Singapore, from July to December 2003 and in August 2004. As part of the program, tutorial lectures were conducted by international experts, and they covered a wide spectrum of topics in mathematical image, signal and information processing. This volume includes exposition articles by the tutorial speakers on the foundations of Gabor analysis, subband filters and wavelet algorithms, and operator-theoretic interpolation of wavelets and frames. It also presents research papers on Gabor analysis, written by specialists in their respective areas. The volume takes graduate students and researchers new to the field on a valuable learning journey from introductory Gabor and wavelet analyses to advanced topics of current research.

Book Synopsis Deep Learning for Marine Science by : Haiyong Zheng
Download or read book Deep Learning for Marine Science written by Haiyong Zheng and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-05-15 with total page 555 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deep learning (DL), mainly composed of deep and complex neural networks such as recurrent network and convolutional network, is an emerging research branch in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. DL revolution has a far-reaching impact on all scientific disciplines and every corner of our lives. With continuing technological advances, marine science is entering into the big data era with the exponential growth of information. DL is an effective means of harnessing the power of big data. Combined with unprecedented data from cameras, acoustic recorders, satellite remote sensing, and large model outputs, DL enables scientists to solve complex problems in biology, ecosystems, climate, energy, as well as physical and chemical interactions. Although DL has made great strides, it is still only beginning to emerge in many fields of marine science, especially towards representative applications and best practices for the automatic analysis of marine organisms and marine environments. DL in nowadays' marine science mainly leverages cutting-edge techniques of deep neural networks and massive data which collected by in-situ optical or acoustic imaging sensors for underwater applications, such as plankton classification and coral reef detection. This research topic aims to expand the applications of marine science to cover all aspects of detection, classification, segmentation, localization, and density estimation of marine objects, organisms, and phenomena.
