Book Synopsis Evolution and Geological Significance of Larger Benthic Foraminifera by : Marcelle K. BouDagher-Fadel
Download or read book Evolution and Geological Significance of Larger Benthic Foraminifera written by Marcelle K. BouDagher-Fadel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-10-17 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The over-all aim of the book is to collect and add to the information published already on the larger benthic foraminifera and in cases their associated algae. Many decades of research in the Far East, to some extent in the Middle East and Americas has lead to numerous articles with confused systematics. Therefore, with the aid of new and precise age dates, from calcareous nannofossils and Sr isotopes, the current schemes of the larger foraminifera in a relatively precise chronostratigraphic and sequence stratigraphic framework are revised. This is achieved by: 1) establishing the systematic and occurrences of larger foraminifera from carbonate rocks in successions covering the Carboniferous to Miocene, with careful taxonomic comparison with the known records in the different bioprovinces; 2) illustration fossils of different families and groups at generic levels. 3) illustrations of important species and comparing distributions of different taxa. The inventory of larger benthic foraminifera focuses on the main important groups and the illustration of their genera. Reviews of the global state of the art of each group are complemented with the new data, and the direct palaeobiogeographic relevance of the new data is analyzed. - A unique, comprehensive reference work on the larger foraminifera - A documentation of the biostratigraphic ranges and palaeoecological significance of larger foraminifera which is essential for understanding many major oil-bearing sedimentary basins - The palaeogeographic interpretations of the shallow marine late Palaeozoic to Cenozoic world

Download or read book Evolution and Geological Significance of Larger Benthic Foraminifera, Second Edition written by Marcelle K. Boudaugher-Fadel and published by UCL Press. This book was released on 2018-04-30 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evolution and Geological Significance of Larger Benthic Foraminifera is a unique, comprehensive reference work on the larger benthic foraminifera. This second edition is substantially revised, including extensive re-analysis of the most recent work on Cenozoic forms. It provides documentation of the biostratigraphic ranges and palaeoecological significance of the larger foraminifera, which is essential for understanding many major oil-bearing sedimentary basins. In addition, it offers a palaeogeographic interpretation of the shallow marine late Palaeozoic to Cenozoic world. Marcelle K. BouDagher-Fadel collects and significantly adds to the information already published on the larger benthic foraminifera. New research in the Far East, the Middle East, South Africa, Tibet and Americas has provided fresh insights into the evolution and palaeographic significance of these vital reef-forming forms. With the aid of new and precise biostratigraphic dating, she presents revised phylogenies and ranges of the larger foraminifera. The book is illustrated throughout, with examples of different families and groups at the generic levels. Key species are discussed and their biostratigraphic ranges are depicted in comparative charts, which can be found at http://discovery.ucl.ac.uk/10047587/2/Charts.pdf.

Book Synopsis Paleogene Shallow Benthos of the Tethys, 1 by : Johannes S. Pignatti
Download or read book Paleogene Shallow Benthos of the Tethys, 1 written by Johannes S. Pignatti and published by Založba ZRC. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Earth Sciences written by Imran Ahmad Dar and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-02-03 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The studies of Earth's history and of the physical and chemical properties of the substances that make up our planet, are of great significance to our understanding both of its past and its future. The geological and other environmental processes on Earth and the composition of the planet are of vital importance in locating and harnessing its resources. This book is primarily written for research scholars, geologists, civil engineers, mining engineers, and environmentalists. Hopefully the text will be used by students, and it will continue to be of value to them throughout their subsequent professional and research careers. This does not mean to infer that the book was written solely or mainly with the student in mind. Indeed from the point of view of the researcher in Earth and Environmental Science it could be argued that this text contains more detail than he will require in his initial studies or research.
Book Synopsis Biogeography, Time and Place: Distributions, Barriers and Islands by : Willem Renema
Download or read book Biogeography, Time and Place: Distributions, Barriers and Islands written by Willem Renema and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-09-07 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers exchanges between the fields of paleontology and zoology as patterns of biodiversity have long attracted the attention of both biologists and paleontologists. It covers the development of isolated island faunas, paleogeography and zoomorphology. The book shows that patterns are not always what they seem if looked at without a spatial or temporal reference.

This book was released on 2022-12-08 with total page 1027 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oceanography and Marine Biology: An Annual Review remains one of the most cited sources in marine science and oceanography. The ever-increasing interest in work in oceanography and marine biology and its relevance to global environmental issues, especially global climate change and its impacts, creates a demand for authoritative refereed reviews summarizing and synthesizing the results of both historical and recent research. This Volume celebrates 60 years of OMBAR, over which time it has been an essential reference for research workers and students in all fields of marine science. The peer-reviewed contributions in Volume 60 are available to read Open Access via this webpage and on OAPEN. If you are interested in submitting a review for consideration for publication in OMBAR, please email the Editor-in-Chief, Stephen Hawkins ([email protected]) for Volume 61. For Volume 62 onwards, please email the new co-Editors in Chief, Dr Peter Todd ([email protected]) and Dr Bayden Russell ([email protected]). Volume 60 features an editorial on the UN Decade of Ocean Science and goes on to consider such diverse topics as Cenozoic tropical marine biodiversity, blue carbon ecosystems in Sri Lanka, marine litter and microplastics in the Western Indian Ocean, and the ecology and conservation status of the family Syngnathidae in southern and western Africa. This volume also contains a retrospective Prologue on the evolution of OMBAR and pays tribute to one of its early Editors in Chief, Margaret Barnes, by providing an update on her review in OMBAR of the stalked barnacle Pollicipes. Supplementary online videos as well as additional Tables and Appendices are available on the Support Tab of the book's Routledge webpage. An international Editorial Board ensures global relevance and expert peer review, with editors from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Singapore and the UK. The series volumes find a place in the libraries of not only marine laboratories and oceanographic institutes, but also universities worldwide.
