Ao realizar este estudo, são viabilizadas duas ações importantes: a avaliação da compreensão dos usuários a respeita da atenção terapêutico-ocupacional recebida no âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS, sendo esta uma das estratégias utilizadas pelos processos de Gestão dos Serviços de Saúde para estimular a Gestão Participativa; e a sistematização de dados referentes à compreensão dos usuários a cerca da Terapia Ocupacional, seus mecanismos de atuação, objetivos e resultados. O estudo visa contribuir para a reflexão sobre as práticas e o aprimoramento da qualidade dos atendimentos prestados pelo Serviço de Terapia Ocupacional em Contextos Hospitalares do HCFMRP - USP.
