After moving to this place I discovered that many people in this county and surrounding counties knew about the crime and lack of protection from the law enforcement. Because I did not spend time finding out more about the place where I chose to retire, I paid in tears and fear for weeks, months and even years. I still worry what these unstable evil people will do in the future. I do not know if I will ever feel truly safe again. I moved away to another state where I received a gun permit and keep my gun handy at all times. My home is like a fortress with many spotlights that are motion activated and large German shepherds to alert me if anyone comes on the property. Once feelings of being safe were stripped away from me, I have not been the same person. I suffer nightmares of my beloved poodle Buckwheat dying needlessly and senselessly. As the years have gone by I have continued the recovery process and hopefully will continue to seek peace through God.
