Book Synopsis Computation of Equilibrium Partial Vapor Pressures of Aqueous Ammonia Solutions by : Paul E. Field
Download or read book Computation of Equilibrium Partial Vapor Pressures of Aqueous Ammonia Solutions written by Paul E. Field and published by . This book was released on 2000-06-01 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report evaluates all available vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) data from low-to-moderate pressures over the normal liquid water temperature range for the highly non-ideal aqueous ammonia solutions spanning nearly a century. The evaluation relies on all complete VLE data comprised of pressure- temperature-liquid and vapor compositions published over the last century to develop a temperature dependent model for the coefficients of the Wilson equation. The computations derived from the temperature dependent model are described by means of the program flowcharts and listings. Graphs of computed minima of the "best" Wilson coefficient pairs illustrate the statistical analysis of the experimental data. Tables of calculated deviations for three sets of Wilson coefficients corresponding to the individual and combined data sets demonstrate the utility of the model equations. Excellent agreement between the experimental and calculated liquid and vapor compositions is found for all but two data sets over the region of rapidly changing vapor composition up to 90 mole % of ammonia. This temperature dependent Wilson model offers a succinct representation of 100 years of what appear to be disparate pressure- temperature-composition VLE data.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Aqueous Electrolyte Thermodynamics by : Joseph F. Zemaitis, Jr.
Download or read book Handbook of Aqueous Electrolyte Thermodynamics written by Joseph F. Zemaitis, Jr. and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-09-16 with total page 876 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Expertise in electrolyte systems has become increasingly important in traditional CPI operations, as well as in oil/gas exploration and production. This book is the source for predicting electrolyte systems behavior, an indispensable "do-it-yourself" guide, with a blueprint for formulating predictive mathematical electrolyte models, recommended tabular values to use in these models, and annotated bibliographies. The final chapter is a general recipe for formulating complete predictive models for electrolytes, along with a series of worked illustrative examples. It can serve as a useful research and application tool for the practicing process engineer, and as a textbook for the chemical engineering student.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Scatter Search by Manuel Laguna and Rafael Martà represents a long-awaited "missing link" in the literature of evolutionary methods. Scatter Search (SS)-together with its generalized form called Path Relinking-constitutes the only evolutionary approach that embraces a collection of principles from Tabu Search (TS), an approach popularly regarded to be divorced from evolutionary procedures. The TS perspective, which is responsible for introducing adaptive memory strategies into the metaheuristic literature (at purposeful level beyond simple inheritance mechanisms), may at first seem to be at odds with population-based approaches. Yet this perspective equips SS with a remarkably effective foundation for solving a wide range of practical problems. The successes documented by Scatter Search come not so much from the adoption of adaptive memory in the range of ways proposed in Tabu Search (except where, as often happens, SS is advantageously coupled with TS), but from the use of strategic ideas initially proposed for exploiting adaptive memory, which blend harmoniously with the structure of Scatter Search. From a historical perspective, the dedicated use of heuristic strategies both to guide the process of combining solutions and to enhance the quality of offspring has been heralded as a key innovation in evolutionary methods, giving rise to what are sometimes called "hybrid" (or "memetic") evolutionary procedures. The underlying processes have been introduced into the mainstream of evolutionary methods (such as genetic algorithms, for example) by a series of gradual steps beginning in the late 1980s.
