Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enjoy these SAMPLE pages from Tell Me a Story- Jesus called His followers witnesses. We are, in fact, witnesses to His unfolding story. This story is not only our calling-it's the next generation's best chance of identifying with the Church and changing the world. As we become storytellers, we learn to see the world in terms of stories being lived and told. We discover deeper insights into God, ourselves, and others. Through story we uncover a better framework for understanding abstract concepts such as purpose and conflict, as well as more concrete aspects of our lives such as work, technology, communication, and community. Story touches every part of our lives because it's the form factor of our lives-story is inside all of us, and we're all inside a story.

Book excerpt: Ethnic minority children now comprise over 75 percent of students in 100 of the largest cities in the United States. However, these students have not been given equal access to, nor benefited from, the contemporary mental health system as have their non-minority peers. TEMAS (Tell-Me-A-Story) Assessment in Multicultural Societies examines the health/mental care system in which professional service providers, including psychologists, labor to offer quality care for youth in the United States. The authors ardently support the use of the TEMAS assessment instrument as a useful tool for diagnosis of all youngsters, particularly its use on the growing population of minority children and adolescents. Part I presents a rationale and context for employing TEMAS. Introductory chapters describe the mental health status of the population at-risk, as well as systems of care for youth where assessment and intervention are components. Topics to follow highlight a history of positive TEMAS test reviews with the detail required by instructors for preparing dedicated TEMAS courses. The volume thoroughly outlines cross-cultural studies and illustrates case examples of European-American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian-American, and forensic studies. TEMAS (Tell-Me-A-Story) Assessment in Multicultural Societies brings practical insight to instructors who teach standard assessment courses; clinicians, counselors, and school psychologists; assessment specialists; and administrators concerned with mental health services designed for children and adolescents.

Dennis Johnson and Joe Musser outline compelling and practical strategies for reaching children and adults around the world whose primary way of learning is through hearing oral stories. You will be inspired and equipped to make Orality, or story telling, a part of your ministry in your neighborhood, in your local church, and around the world.

Book excerpt: THE BOOK OF SAMPLES is just that, a variety of poetry of my favorite collections, over the past 38 years. In this book, you will read poems, of love, history, Everyday life, Humorous, Eerie and Christian poems. As well as my very first poems. Some are strictly my imagination, some are very true, I'll let you figure out which ones are real and which ones are not. Each poem tells a story, that's my style a story inside of every poem. You will read about (The Round House), my first Eerie poem. I'll tell you about the horrible things that happened there one night, in a little town in Oklahoma. You will read about an old building, that was (Boarded Up) for so many years, until someone entered and unleashed the horror, that was locked up inside. And I must talk about the God all mighty, with some of my Christian poems. And some history about Dr Martian Luther King, you will get a chance to learn all about his life. A poem called (Family) a story about a family back in the 1800's something happened so amazing that takes a great number of years to unfold and all the cards had to fall in the right place. You will read about one of the characters in the book that had an experience with a semi-Truck, that will just make you gasp, when you read what happened. Or my sports poems about this young man that was sent to prison, who claims to be innocent, he became a boxer while in prison, and you won't believe what happened to him. And of course my favorites, Chandler Baseball camp and the last and longest poem that I wrote, Barn Wood. And many other poems that I enjoyed writing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A powerful secret and a fresh approach to writing bestselling fiction! What's the best way to write a "next level" novel? Some writers start at the beginning and let the story unfold without a plan. They are called "pantsers," because they write by the "seat of the pants." Other writers plan and outline and know the ending before they start. These are the "plotters." The two sides never seem to agree with each other on the best approach. But what if it's not the beginning or the end that is the key to a successful book? What if, amazing as it may seem, the place to begin writing your novel is in the very middle of the story? According to #1 bestselling writing teacher James Scott Bell, that's exactly where you'll find your story's heart and heat. Bell's "Mirror Moment" is the secret, and its power is available to any writer, at any stage of the writing process. Bringing together years of craft study and personal discovery, Bell presents a truly unique approach to writing a novel, one that will stand the test of time and serve you all your writing life. "I need three things before I tackle a new novel: Diet Coke, a laptop, and my dog-eared copies of James Scott Bell's books on writing craft!"- Kami Garcia, #1 NYT Times & International Bestselling author
