But although the Tao cannot be described by words, words can allow us to catch a fleeting glimpse of that mysterious energy of the universe which is the source of life. The readings in this book are a beginner's entrée into the vast treasury of writings from the sacred Chinese tradition, consisting of original translations of excerpts from the Taoist canon. Brief introductions and notes on the translation accompany the selections from the classics; books of devotional and mystical Taoism; texts of internal alchemy; stories of Taoist immortals, magicians, and sorcerers; ethical tracts; chants and rituals; and teachings on meditation and methods of longevity.

Book excerpt: How do the judges of the International Court of Justice, the most authoritative court in international law, use teachings when deciding cases? This book is the first book-length examination of how teachings are used in an important international institution. It uses three different methodologies: a traditional legal analysis, an empirical analysis where citations of teachings are counted and interviews with judges and staff. Three main patterns are identified: teachings have generally low weight, but this weight varies between different works and between different judges. The book suggests explanations for the patterns it identifies, in order to contribute to understanding not only when and how teachings are used, but also why, and compares the Court's practice with that of other international courts and tribunals. This study fills a gap in the international legal literature and will be essential reading for scholars and practicing international lawyers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is very much written about what Jesus says throughout the New Testament. So I captured some of the key topics and expounded on what Jesus specifically has to say. Some of my personal thoughts and experiences are interwoven into the topical stories that concerned me and have an impact on my life. The list of topics seems endless, but I’ve carefully chosen the most common questions and themes that people ask about. From my perspective, simplicity equals transparency. “I’m not moved by what I see, but I am moved by what is in the hearts and minds of people,” I think. Consequently, I’ve chosen to simplify the message without diving too deep. While quoting scriptures, I’ve used the NIV version of the Bible, unless otherwise noted differently.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For we are royal priesthood, a peculiar people and that to show forth the praises of him, that hath call us out of darkness in to his marvelous light." As such, we are sons and daughters of the Lord our God, the eternal heavenly king. In this regard, it is gracious to be in honour of the salvation of the Lord our God who dwells eternally. Children should delight in sharing the testimony and word of the Lord, so as making the light of the Lord to show proof in our locality and region. We know that the word of the Lord hath shown light to us. That we all descended from Adam and Eve, and that through the word of the Lord, we all become children of Abraham in Christ the Lord. This testimony of the word of the Lord makes known through the gospel and in the ministry of apostles of the Lord our Saviour Christ. So in essence, we children in the Lord should aspire to share this testimony in the word of the Lord, so as to draw more others to come to light in to this testimony of the Lord, shed through in the word of the Lord. Thus in regard, I have taken this initiative in producing this booklet, Bible Commentary and Teachings, to share some testimony in to the word of the Lord and draw some light in to the word of the Lord. This is so that we can delight for more passion and aspiration to learn of the doctrine of our Lord Christ and God the Father. The commentary can lead us to make way for a grasp look in to the word of the Lord so that we'll be in place to take a quick note of the lessons of the Lord. The teachings would make us edified in the word of the Lord and lead us in forbearance in the Lord.

When we look at Hinduism and Christianity we find totally different ideologies with different doctrines and different gods. But when I studied Bible, I found striking similarities between the teachings of Jesus Christ and Hinduism. In this book I have tried to show those similarities by putting the teachings of Jesus and Krishna together. It is not my intention to show Jesus as a Hindu Guru, I don’t know if He had visited India or not. I have just tried to show that the Consciousness of humanity is same everywhere and prophets of different time and place have expressed the same reality about it. - Saurabh

This book was released on 1978 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lord Kapila is a renowned sage and the author of the philosophical system known as Sankhya, which forms an important part of India's ancient philosophical heritage. Sankhya is a system of metaphysics that deals with the elemental principles of the universe; it is also a system of spiritual knowledge, with its own methodology, and culminates in full consciousness of the Supreme Absolute. Lord Kapila, however, is not an ordinary philosopher or sage but an incarnation of God. This book deals with his answers to his mother's enquiry about how to overcome ignorance and delusion and attain spiritual enlightenment. The underlying theme running throughout his answers and throughout Srila Prabhupada's commentaries on them is that one can achieve this goal by practicing bhakti-yoga, the process of linking one's heart to the Lord's heart through loving devotional service. This series, with original Sanskrit, translations, and purports, sheds light on such topics as the significance of the guru, the psychology of consciousness, the characteristics of a self-realized person, the science of meditation, the nature of transcendental knowledge, and the process of ultimate liberation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A shorter and less technical treatment of its subject than the author’s acclaimed Buddhism As Philosophy (second edition, Hackett, 2021), Mark Siderits's The Buddha’s Teachings As Philosophy explores three different systems of thought that arose from core claims of the Buddha. By detailing and critically examining key arguments made by the Buddha and developed by later Buddhist philosophers, Siderits investigates the Buddha's teachings as philosophy: a set of claims—in this case, claims about the nature of the world and our place in it—supported by rational argumentation and, here, developed with a variety of systematic results. The Buddha’s Teachings As Philosophy will be especially useful to students of philosophy, religious studies, and comparative religion—to anyone, in fact, encountering Buddhist philosophy for the first time.
