Book excerpt: The story begins with Adolf Hitler’s forty-two-year-old paternal grandmother, Maria Anna Schicklgruber. She gives birth to an illegitimate child and names him Alois Schicklgruber. When the child grows a little older, Maria takes him to a church for baptism. The priest conducting the ceremony asks for the little boy Alois’ father’s name. Maria remains silent. The priest continues asking for the child’s father’s name, but Maria, inexplicably, continues to remain silent. Finally, the priest registers the child’s name as Alois Schicklgruber—an illegitimate child. Now, Alois is five years old, and his mother decides to marry fifty-year-old Johann Georg Hiedler. But Maria doesn’t go back to the church to amend Alois’ father’s name in the baptismal register. This little act of ignorance plants the seeds of future obstacles for Alois’ yet to be born son, Adolf Hitler. Later, when Adolf Hitler decides to give form to his dream of the Third Reich, he decides to contest the presidential elections. But being the son of an illegitimate child puts his citizenship of Germany in question.

Book excerpt: Here is a timeless collection of traditional stories that recount the personal spiritual journeys and true acts of selflessness by saints from various religious traditions indigenous to India, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Sufism. The authors present a diverse selection of these inspirational tales—about both men and women saints, from a variety of time periods, and from all over India—and make them relevant for a modern audience. The stories reveal that, despite their perceived differences, the same spiritual principles underlie all the great religious traditions.

Book excerpt: This book is about God and Science, exploring the concept of God with particular reference to Sanatana Dharma, also known as Hinduism. Sanatana Dharma is eternal religion, and irrespective of a particular individual’s faith, universally it can be followed. Thus, Hinduism stands above all other religions and is a way of life that can be adopted, as it is universal in adaptability. A classic example is that of Dr. Annie Besant, the founder and president of the Theosophical Society of India, who remained a Christian despite adapting to the Hindu way of life. Want to know why we have to go to a temple to pray, why idol worship should be followed? The answers are here. Following Sanatana Dharma alone can give an individual God-realisation or liberation. The scientific basis of Sanatana Dharma is explored in detail in relevant chapters. In short, this book will be a lucid introduction to Sanatana Dharma. Every believer of God will find it worth reading to have a conceptual understanding of God, prayer and the science behind them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To start with Hazrath Banda Nawaz’s 'Tasavvuf Aur Sulook,' recreations and instructions are common to all Deccan writers. The love poems of the king, Mohammed Quliqutb Shah, are excellent examples of the versatility of Deccan literature. “Fourteen pomegranate seeds” comprises the translation of the short stories of the Deccan writers starting from the 19th century. While translating the stories, an attempt has been made to separate wheat and chaff. Rashidul Khairi teaches the intentions of religious teachings. Iwaz Sayeed deals with the grave situation of abandoned parents, and Wajida Tabassum speaks about the atrocities against women. Jeelani Bano speaks about the hard times for those below the poverty line. The Qamar Jamali character stands for human thirst and his inability to quench it.In the introduction to this book, the writer's personal experiences have been added. They never meant to get the goat of the people by hurting or criticizing them, but to express anguish over the interested but indifferent behavior of Urdu-loving people. Every care has been taken to provide the reader with the intentions of the writers.
