A war of ideas ultimately leads to a peace of mind for both, each convinced that the other is in a wrong place but for the right reasons. Together they reach the startling conclusion that their opposite belief systems can peacefully coexist in a world threatened to be torn apart by religion.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mike Royko: The Chicago Tribune Collection 1984–1997 is an expansive new volume of the longtime Chicago news legend’s work. Encompassing thousands of his columns, all of which originally appeared in the Chicago Tribune, this is the first collection of Royko work to solely cover his time at the Tribune. Covering politics, culture, sports, and more, Royko brings his trademark sarcasm and cantankerous wit to a complete compendium of his last 14 years as a newspaper man. Organized chronologically, these columns display Royko's talent for crafting fictional conversations that reveal the truth of the small-minded in our society. From cagey political points to hysterical take-downs of "meatball" sports fans, Royko's writing was beloved and anticipated anxiously by his fans. In plain language, he "tells it like it is" on subjects relevant to modern society. In addition to his columns, the book features Royko's obituary and articles written about him after his death, telling the tale of his life and success. This ultimate collection is a must-read for Royko fans, longtime Chicago Tribune readers, and Chicagoans who love the city's rich history of dedicated and insightful journalism.

Their instant attraction opens the door to her seduction, and he introduces her to his dreams and desires. Lured by his seeming devotion to her and to God, as well as his sizzling sexuality and yearning for a meaningful role in the world, she falls in love, both with Gideon and the spiritual promise he offers. Inducted into a bizarre, nominally Christian cult calling itself The Family International (Children of God), Billie is morphed into a diligent student, immersed daily in the rote memorization of Bible passages and the writings of their leader Moses David. Pressured to use her body to win souls for Jesus, Billie is caught in a whirlpool of love, sacred aspiration and unbridled sex, struggling to reconcile her feelings for her new lover, God, and the teachings of the cult's self-proclaimed prophet, Moses David.

When food wellness is achieved, the hope is that the body and mind will be able to perform at peak performance. When one of these areas is missing, it is almost impossible to establish sustainable healthy eating habits. Featuring meal plans for a caloric diet of 1,500, 2,000, and 2,500 calories, The Complete Plate shows that weight maintenance, and weight loss, can be achieved through the science behind a balanced diet that meets both nutritional and caloric demands. It features 30 daily meal plans with each day perfectly balanced to provide 100 percent of your macro and micro nutrient needs, based on current daily recommended intake (DRI) values. The 90 recipes range from an indulgent 'Coconut and Flax Seed French Toast' to a savory 'Portobello and Prosciutto Pizza' to a nourishing 'Creamy Corn, Ham, and Roast Pepper Chowder,' and include additional snacks so that readers are satiated and energized throughout the day.

But the newly redesigned Bellywasher’s, featuring simple, delicious fare, is D.C.’s latest hotspot. There’s something about its down-home ambience that draws people. The owner, Annie’s boyfriend Jim, is offering a six-week bar food cooking class, and Annie is rolling up her sleeves to help. She knows Jim’s food is good—but she’s about to learn that it’s to die for. When one of the students, Brad Peterson, is murdered, Eve becomes the primary suspect. The whole class heard her say she wanted to kill him. She had good reason, too: Brad was the former boss who had her fired when she spurned his advances. But now, to prove Eve’s innocence, she and Annie must make sure all their ducks á l’orange are in a row.

Book excerpt: From their heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, B movies declined in popularity through the 1970s. As the big Hollywood studios began to make genre films with sky-high budgets, independent producers of low-budget movies could not compete in theaters. The sale of American International Pictures in 1979 and New World Pictures in 1983 marked the end of an era. The emergence of home video in the 1980s marked the beginning of a new phase, as dozens of B movies were produced each year for the small screen, many becoming cult classics of science fiction, horror and fantasy. Through numerous interviews with producers, directors, photographers and actors, this book sheds light on an overlooked corner of film history with behind-the-scenes stories of 28 low-budget favorites from the 1980s.
