Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Melanie Gibson was an independent woman with a good job, multiple college degrees, and a condo in the trendy part of town. She also had a few mental illnesses, a minor substance abuse problem, and rotten relationship skills. She was a high-functioning crazy who needed a good kick in the pants, literally and metaphorically. In early 2013, as a last desperate means to save her sanity, Melanie turned to a nearly forgotten childhood activity: the Korean martial art of taekwondo. As if the universe were listening, she discovered her West Texas childhood taekwondo instructors’ Grandmaster operated a taekwondo school a few miles from her home in Fort Worth, Texas—and she decided to start her training over as a white belt. In taekwondo, Melanie felt like she had a fresh start in more ways than one. She found an inner peace she’d never known before, a sense of community, a newfound confidence, and a positive outlook on life. The kicking and screaming she was doing in class quieted the long-term kicking and screaming in her mind. Funny and frank, Kicking and Screaming: A Memoir of Madness and Martial Arts is the story of Melanie’s life-changing journey from troubled, lost soul to confident taekwondo black belt.

Book excerpt: In a culture that tells men to suppress instead of express, join bestselling author, speaker, and leader Jason Wilson (featured in the award-winning ESPN documentary The Cave of Adullam) as he calls us to unlearn society's definition of masculinity and discover the power of engaging with our emotions. For decades, Jason was losing the war within--the internal battle that many men wage on a daily basis. He struggled to combat his toxic thoughts and emotions, communicating without composure, and ultimately hurting himself and his loved ones. When Jason began to release years of unresolved trauma, he learned how to acknowledge his emotions and express them in a healthy way. He discovered that he was strengthened by transparency and vulnerability, which taught him to forgive, trust, and love without limitations. Soon, Jason's newfound practices began to heal his relationships and transform his life. Throughout his journey of opening up, Jason became a better husband, father, and leader--and you can, too. Supported by Biblical teachings, the lessons that Jason shares in Battle Cry teach us that we can all be empowered to break through what we've been through. Jason calls us to become better versions of ourselves, equipping us with the mental and spiritual weapons needed to redefine modern masculinity and showing us how to: embrace our emotions rather than be ruled by them win internal battles before they become external wars break free from misconstrued masculinity and embrace our humanity communicate more effectively with the people in our lives heal trauma from our past in order to live our fullest lives in the present Battle Cry proves that it's possible to live beyond the limitations of your mind and finally experience the full life you've always longed for. What are you waiting for? It's time to win the war within.

Book excerpt: The church can become a place where people want to run to instead of away from during times of suffering. Small groups offer a safe space for individuals to connect meaningfully with one another, and they also provide an environment where relational healing can begin. This comprehensive guide to leading small groups provides eight strategies for leading transformative small groups, dispels common myths about leading groups, and helps readers understand how groups work and the life stages of a group. The author suggests practical ways to lead groups effectively, using examples from scripture of how Jesus worked to transform people spiritually and emotionally. Gather Us In will equip small-group leaders with wisdom for relating to others, knowledge for helping others talk about their unfolding faith journeys, and confidence in their newly acquired facilitation skills. They will realize they don't need to know all the answers to be able to lead well.

Book excerpt: The profession of educational therapy has a detailed Code of Ethics governing standards of practice, responsibilities of members, and relationships with clients and allied professionals. Yet, there is no accompanying Practice Guide for applying these tenets to one’s own work, as there are in other “helping” professions. Applicable models of Ethical Decision Making (EDMs) have not been discussed, evaluated, or detailed in any other publication. Clear breaches of ethics may be readily apparent, but less clearcut ethical “dilemmas” can be very troublesome. Ethical Decision Making in Educational Therapy: A Practical Guide is a unique and important guidebook for professionals, instructors, and supervisors in the field. It categorizes the issues commonly experienced in an educational therapy practice while presenting engaging, real-life scenarios embedded with ethical quandaries. The book provides clear guidelines for problem-solving ethical issues with integrity. The effects of workplace context, experience, and self-reflection are reviewed. Ethical Decision Making in Educational Therapy: A Practical Guide is an essential book for those in university training programs, for practitioners new to the field, for those experiencing an ethical dilemma, for supervisors, and for those preparing to take the Association of Educational Therapist’s ethics exam to become Board Certified.

This book was released on 101-01-01 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The central ideas behind the books on linguistic brain therapy and the psychology of the brain aim to help psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, health workers, family members, and clients. They provide knowledge and methods to reduce or eliminate mental disorders, leading to a better life for clients and more secure, satisfied therapists. Therapists and psychologists who achieve good results can continue their treatment confidently, while gaining a scientific understanding of the mental changes in their clients as they improve. Therapists who are less successful can acquire scientifically grounded knowledge to achieve better outcomes. Family members will gain knowledge about mental disorders, enabling them to help their children more effectively. Those suffering from mental disorders can acquire knowledge and techniques that alleviate their condition and create a life with less mental pain. These goals are achievable because the books contain scientific knowledge about mental constructs that anchor and trigger mental distress or well-being. They also provide insights into how to protect against and manage mental pain. The Significance of Research Early in my practice, several clients achieved amazing results that psychology could not explain, leading to an extensive research project. This research, initially met with skepticism, involved analyzing mental processes in clients for 9 years, uncovering how mental disorders are constructed and the mental changes experienced during improvement. A conclusion was that all mental disorders can be cured using words, though it may take time. These findings offered solutions to challenges in psychology and psychiatry for over 150 years. Significant Discoveries I discovered that mental disorders are constructed more simply than previously believed. Mental well-being and disorders are constructed from the same mental or mental-biological material, in the same manner, allowing the same methods to treat various mental disorders and develop mental well-being. I Now Know for Sure I am now certain that knowledge of brain psychology and linguistic therapy can help those with mental distress gain more control over their emotions and problems. Psychologists and health workers can treat clients with greater scientific certainty, achieving faster and better results. The most reliable evidence includes success stories, comments from international scientific journals, and observations from colleagues over many years. After 30 years of research and treating over 1000 clients, I am convinced that linguistic brain therapy not only helps individuals but also enables those who have studied the books to help others. For more information, visit: www.brainpsychology.pro. Simple, but not Easy The book 'Linguistic Brain Therapy' explains how to treat clients to become mentally stronger and more in control of their lives. The Books Offer the Necessary Knowledge The book on the Psychology of the Brain provides essential knowledge for understanding mental disorders. 'Linguistic Brain Therapy', based on Brain Psychology, guides therapists and others in treating clients effectively. My doctoral dissertation on mental distress and change is available at the University Library in Oslo. Are These Claims True? The books provide strong evidence for the claims. Practical evidence like success stories and research findings will be shared on: www.brainpsychology.pro. If you face mental challenges, explore brain psychology and linguistic therapy. These books can improve lives for many years, focusing on positive emotions, mental resources, coping strategies, and treatment of mental disorders.
