Download or read book Modeling Approaches and Algorithms for Advanced Computer Applications written by Abdelmalek Amine and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-08-23 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "During the last decades Computational Intelligence has emerged and showed its contributions in various broad research communities (computer science, engineering, finance, economic, decision making, etc.). This was done by proposing approaches and algorithms based either on turnkey techniques belonging to the large panoply of solutions offered by computational intelligence such as data mining, genetic algorithms, bio-inspired methods, Bayesian networks, machine learning, fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, etc. or inspired by computational intelligence techniques to develop new ad-hoc algorithms for the problem under consideration. This volume is a comprehensive collection of extended contributions from the 4th International Conference on Computer Science and Its Applications (CIIA’2013) organized into four main tracks: Track 1: Computational Intelligence, Track 2: Security & Network Technologies, Track 3: Information Technology and Track 4: Computer Systems and Applications. This book presents recent advances in the use and exploitation of computational intelligence in several real world hard problems covering these tracks such as image processing, Arab text processing, sensor and mobile networks, physical design of advanced databases, model matching, etc. that require advanced approaches and algorithms borrowed from computational intelligence for solving them.

Book Synopsis Mechanical Systems, Classical Models by : Petre P. Teodorescu
Download or read book Mechanical Systems, Classical Models written by Petre P. Teodorescu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-03-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All phenomena in nature are characterized by motion. Mechanics deals with the objective laws of mechanical motion of bodies, the simplest form of motion. In the study of a science of nature, mathematics plays an important rôle. Mechanics is the first science of nature which has been expressed in terms of mathematics, by considering various mathematical models, associated to phenomena of the surrounding nature. Thus, its development was influenced by the use of a strong mathematical tool. As it was already seen in the first two volumes of the present book, its guideline is precisely the mathematical model of mechanics. The classical models which we refer to are in fact models based on the Newtonian model of mechanics, that is on its five principles, i.e.: the inertia, the forces action, the action and reaction, the independence of the forces action and the initial conditions principle, respectively. Other models, e.g., the model of attraction forces between the particles of a discrete mechanical system, are part of the considered Newtonian model. Kepler’s laws brilliantly verify this model in case of velocities much smaller then the light velocity in vacuum.

Book Synopsis Water and Development - Volume II by : Catherine M .Marquette
Download or read book Water and Development - Volume II written by Catherine M .Marquette and published by EOLSS Publications. This book was released on 2009-08-10 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water and Development is a component of Encyclopedia of Water Sciences, Engineering and Technology Resources in the global Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), which is an integrated compendium of twenty one Encyclopedias. Water is perhaps the most critical natural resource upon which humans depend. Agricultural and food production, trade and ultimately the economic development of all regions of the world depend on rivers, streams, dams, oceans and other water resources. This critical relationship has persisted through the agricultural and industrial revolution and into the era of economic globalization. The relationship between human activity and the water resources on which it depends also continues to be reciprocal. Human consumption, energy, agricultural, industrial and other economic activity have significant impacts on water quality and quantity for better or worse. A key element of sustainable development rests on our global capacity to interact with the water resources on which we depend in ways that preserve them for our use and that of future generations. The two volumes on the subject present some of the topics such as Water, Agriculture and Food Interactions, dams, water valuation, arid regions, water-management, and Conflict over Water Resources, Water and Sustainable Development: They consider the implications which contributions have in each of these areas as well as introduce additional issues relating to the future of dams, innovative ways of increasing water supply, transboundary water resources, and the implications of global climate change for water resources. These two volumes are aimed at the following five major target audiences: University and College students, Educators, Professional practitioners, Research personnel and Policy analysts, Managers, and Decision makers and NGOs
