Book Synopsis Passive Network Synthesis: Advances With Inerter by : Michael Zhiqiang Chen
Download or read book Passive Network Synthesis: Advances With Inerter written by Michael Zhiqiang Chen and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-10-03 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the invention of a new mechanical element called 'inerter' in 2002, research interest in passive network synthesis has been revived and this field has again become active and essential. The unique compendium highlights the synthesis of passive electrical or mechanical networks, which is motivated by the vibration control based on a new type of mechanical elements named inerter. It introduces important fundamental concepts of passive network synthesis, and presents recent results on this topic. These new results concern mainly the economical realizations of low-degree functions as RLC networks (damper-spring-inerter networks), the synthesis of n-port resistive networks, and the synthesis of low-complexity mechanical networks. They can be directly applied to the optimization and design of various inerter-based mechanical control systems, such as suspension systems, vibration absorbers, building vibration systems, etc. This useful reference text provides important methodologies and results for researchers in the fields of circuit theory, vibration system control, passive systems, control theory, and electrical engineering.

Book Synopsis Passive Network Synthesis: An Approach to Classification by : Alessandro Morelli
Download or read book Passive Network Synthesis: An Approach to Classification written by Alessandro Morelli and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A resurgence of interest in network synthesis in the last decade, motivated in part by the introduction of the inerter, has led to the need for a better understanding of the most economical way to realize a given passive impedance. This monograph outlines the main contributions to the field of passive network synthesis and presents new research into the enumerative approach and the classification of networks of restricted complexity. Passive Network Synthesis: An Approach to Classification serves as both an ideal introduction to the topic and a definitive treatment of the Ladenheim catalogue. In particular, the authors provide a new analysis and classification of the Ladenheim catalogue, building on recent work, to obtain an improved understanding of the structure and realization power of the class within the biquadratic positive-real functions. This book is intended for researchers in systems and control, real algebraic geometry, electrical and mechanical networks, and dynamics and vibration.
Book Synopsis Spectral Theory of Operator Pencils, Hermite-Biehler Functions, and their Applications by : Manfred Möller
Download or read book Spectral Theory of Operator Pencils, Hermite-Biehler Functions, and their Applications written by Manfred Möller and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2015-06-11 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theoretical part of this monograph examines the distribution of the spectrum of operator polynomials, focusing on quadratic operator polynomials with discrete spectra. The second part is devoted to applications. Standard spectral problems in Hilbert spaces are of the form A-λI for an operator A, and self-adjoint operators are of particular interest and importance, both theoretically and in terms of applications. A characteristic feature of self-adjoint operators is that their spectra are real, and many spectral problems in theoretical physics and engineering can be described by using them. However, a large class of problems, in particular vibration problems with boundary conditions depending on the spectral parameter, are represented by operator polynomials that are quadratic in the eigenvalue parameter and whose coefficients are self-adjoint operators. The spectra of such operator polynomials are in general no more real, but still exhibit certain patterns. The distribution of these spectra is the main focus of the present volume. For some classes of quadratic operator polynomials, inverse problems are also considered. The connection between the spectra of such quadratic operator polynomials and generalized Hermite-Biehler functions is discussed in detail. Many applications are thoroughly investigated, such as the Regge problem and damped vibrations of smooth strings, Stieltjes strings, beams, star graphs of strings and quantum graphs. Some chapters summarize advanced background material, which is supplemented with detailed proofs. With regard to the reader’s background knowledge, only the basic properties of operators in Hilbert spaces and well-known results from complex analysis are assumed.

Book Synopsis Theory and Synthesis of Linear Passive Time-Invariant Networks by : Dante C. Youla
Download or read book Theory and Synthesis of Linear Passive Time-Invariant Networks written by Dante C. Youla and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-05 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring the overlap of mathematics and engineering network synthesis, this book presents a rigorous treatment of the key principles underpinning linear lumped passive time-invariant networks. Based around a series of lectures given by the author, this thoughtfully written book draws on his wide experience in the field, carefully revealing the essential mathematical structure of network synthesis problems. Topics covered include passive n-ports, broadband matching, the design of passive multiplexes and two-state passive devices. It also includes material not usually found in existing texts, such as the theoretical behavior of transverse electromagnetic (TEM) coupled transmission lines. Introducing fundamental principles in a formal theorem-proof style, illustrated by worked examples, this book is an invaluable resource for graduate students studying linear networks and circuit design, academic researchers, and professional circuit engineers.
