Book Synopsis Preparative Acetylenic Chemistry by : L. Brandsma
Download or read book Preparative Acetylenic Chemistry written by L. Brandsma and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of Preparative Acetylenic Chemistry was published in 1971 as one of a series of laboratory manuals containing experimental procedures. The book was used extensively by students during practical courses and laboratory research work and enabled procedures to be carried out by persons with relatively limited bench experience. Discussions about their results have in many cases led to modified procedures or descriptions which have now been incorporated in this considerably revised and up-dated edition. The new book contains a collection of some 250 experimental procedures on a scale of at least 0.1 molar for the preparation of a wide variety of compounds with a triple bond. A number of procedures in the old edition have been omitted and replaced by others; the subdivision and titling of the chapters and experiments have been changed; and the indexes have been replaced by a type-compound-method index. Some new and attractive methods have been included, e.g. eliminations under phase-transfer conditions and couplings under the influence of zero-valent palladium compounds. In a number of cases, additional experiments have been described in order to give a more complete picture of the scope of the concerned methods. This collection is based on almost 30 years active bench experience by the author and all the procedures have been checked at least once in the author's laboratory. It will undoubtedly provide as much useful and practical assistance as did its predecessor.
Book Synopsis The Pauson-Khand Reaction by : Ramon Rios Torres
Download or read book The Pauson-Khand Reaction written by Ramon Rios Torres and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-03-01 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pauson-Khand reaction is an important reaction in the field of organic chemistry. It involves the transition-metal catalysed cycloaddition of an alkyne, an alkene and carbon monoxide, to produce cyclopentenones. The importance of this reaction originates from its high value in transforming simple components into the synthetically useful cyclopentenone unit, in which a high degree of molecular complexity can be achieved in a single step, with impressive stereochemical and regiochemical control. The Pauson-Khand Reaction investigates the nature and many variations of this reaction. Topics covered include: the mechanisms of Pauson‐Khand-type reactions non chiral intramolecular and intermolecular versions of Pauson‐Khand reactions asymmetric Pauson‐Khand reaction using chiral auxiliaries the enantioselective Pauson‐Khand reaction Pauson‐Khand reactions catalysed by metals other than cobalt unconventional Pauson‐Khand reactions the Pauson‐Khand reaction in total synthesis Presenting a comprehensive overview of this fundamental reaction, The Pauson-Khand Reaction will find a place on the bookshelves of any organic or organometallic chemist.

The introduction of these various groups and their relevant transformations are described and the various aspects of chemoselectivity, regioselectivity and stereoselectivity are discussed. After a compilation of the synthetically most useful substitution processes, there is a series of chapters on the various types of acylation reactions and in this context the different methods of acyl group activation are discussed. As functional group protection is of very general importance for organic synthesis, a corresponding chapter is included. This is followed by a section on the preparation of carbonyl derivatives and the most important transformations and rearrangements of functional group derivatives. At the end of the volume one finds chapters on all types of elimination reactions and related thermal reactions together with a survey on fragmentation processes in organic synthesis.
