Book Synopsis Controlling Chaos by : Huaguang Zhang
Download or read book Controlling Chaos written by Huaguang Zhang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-18 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Controlling Chaos achieves three goals: the suppression, synchronisation and generation of chaos, each of which is the focus of a separate part of the book. The text deals with the well-known Lorenz, Rössler and Hénon attractors and the Chua circuit and with less celebrated novel systems. Modelling of chaos is accomplished using difference equations and ordinary and time-delayed differential equations. The methods directed at controlling chaos benefit from the influence of advanced nonlinear control theory: inverse optimal control is used for stabilization; exact linearization for synchronization; and impulsive control for chaotification. Notably, a fusion of chaos and fuzzy systems theories is employed. Time-delayed systems are also studied. The results presented are general for a broad class of chaotic systems. This monograph is self-contained with introductory material providing a review of the history of chaos control and the necessary mathematical preliminaries for working with dynamical systems.

Book Synopsis Robust Synchronization of Chaotic Systems via Feedback by : Ricardo Femat
Download or read book Robust Synchronization of Chaotic Systems via Feedback written by Ricardo Femat and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-01-23 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This pages include the results derived during last ten years about both suppression and synchronization of chaotic -continuous time- systems. Along this time, our concept was to study how the intrinsic properties of dynamical systems can be exploited to suppress and to synchronize the chaotic behavior and what synchronization phen- ena can be found under feedback interconnection. Our findings have caused surprise to us and have stimulated our astonishing capability. Perhaps, reader can imagine our faces with opens eyes like children seeing around objects; which are possibly obvious for others and novel for us. A compilation of our surprises about these findings is being described along this book. Book contains both objectives to share our ama- ment and to show our perspective on synchronization of chaotic systems. Thus, while we were writing the preface, we discussed its scope. Thinking as a book readers, we found that a preface should answer, in few words, the following question: What can the reader find in this book?, reader can find our steps toward understanding of c- otic behavior and the possibility of suppressing and synchronizing it. We firstly show the chaos suppression form experimental domain to potential implementation in high tech system as a levitation system based on High Temperature Superconductors (HTS). This chapter is used as departing point towards a more complicated problem the chaotic synchronization. Then, reader travels by the synchronization of the chaotic behavior world throughout distinct feedback approaches.
Book Synopsis Synchronization Techniques for Chaotic Communication Systems by : Branislav Jovic
Download or read book Synchronization Techniques for Chaotic Communication Systems written by Branislav Jovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-20 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the early 1990s, when synchronization of chaotic communication systems became a popular research subject, a vast number of scientific papers have been published. However, most of today’s books on chaotic communication systems deal exclusively with the systems where perfect synchronization is assumed, an assumption which separates theoretical from practical, real world, systems. This book is the first of its kind dealing exclusively with the synchronization techniques for chaotic communication systems. It describes a number of novel robust synchronization techniques, which there is a lack of, for single and multi-user chaotic communication systems published and highly cited in world’s leading journals in the area. In particular, it presents a solution to the problem of robust chaotic synchronization by presenting the first fully synchronized, highly secure, chaos based DS-CDMA system. The book fills a gap in the existing literature where a number of books exist that deal with chaos and chaotic communications but not with synchronization of chaotic communication systems. It also acts as a bridge between communication system theory and chaotic synchronization by carefully explaining the two concepts and demonstrating how they link into chaotic communication systems. The book also presents a detailed literature review on the topic of synchronization of chaotic communication systems. Furthermore, it presents the literature review on the general topic of chaotic synchronization and how those ideas led to the application of chaotic signals to secure chaotic communication systems. It therefore, in addition to presenting the state of the art systems, also presents a detailed history of chaotic communication systems. In summary, the book stands out in the field of synchronization techniques for chaotic communication systems.

Download or read book Chaotic Synchronization: Applications To Living Systems written by Yuri L Maistrenko and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-03-07 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interacting chaotic oscillators are of interest in many areas of physics, biology, and engineering. In the biological sciences, for instance, one of the challenging problems is to understand how a group of cells or functional units, each displaying complicated nonlinear dynamic phenomena, can interact with one another to produce a coherent response on a higher organizational level. This book is a guide to the fascinating new concept of chaotic synchronization. The topics covered range from transverse stability and riddled basins of attraction in a system of two coupled logistic maps over partial synchronization and clustering in systems of many chaotic oscillators, to noise-induced synchronization of coherence resonance oscillators. Other topics treated in the book are on-off intermittency and the role of the absorbing and mixed absorbing areas, periodic orbit threshold theory, the influence of a small parameter mismatch, and different mechanisms for chaotic phase synchronization. The biological examples include synchronization of the bursting behavior of coupled insulin-producing beta cells, chaotic phase synchronization in the pressure and flow regulation of neighboring functional units of the kidney, and homoclinic transitions to phase synchronization in microbiological reactors.

In particular, differential-geometric and algebraic differential concepts reveal important structural properties of chaotic systems and serve as guide for the construction of design procedures for a wide variety of chaotic systems. The basic differential algebraic and geometric concepts are presented in the first few chapters in a novel way as design tools, together with selected experimental studies demonstrating their importance. The subsequent chapters treat recent applications. Written for graduate students in applied physical sciences, systems engineers, and applied mathematicians interested in synchronization of chaotic systems and in secure communications, this self-contained text requires only basic knowledge of integer ordinary and fractional ordinary differential equations. Design applications are illustrated with the help of several physical models of practical interest.

Book Synopsis Advances in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics by :
Download or read book Advances in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-12-13 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 54 of the Advances in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics Series contains ten contributions, covering a diversity of subject areas in atomic, molecular and optical physics. The article by Regal and Jin reviews the properties of a Fermi degenerate gas of cold potassium atoms in the crossover regime between the Bose-Einstein condensation of molecules and the condensation of fermionic atom pairs. The transition between the two regions can be probed by varying an external magnetic field. Sherson, Julsgaard and Polzik explore the manner in which light and atoms can be entangled, with applications to quantum information processing and communication. They report on the result of recent experiments involving the entanglement of distant objects and quantum memory of light. Recent developments in cold Rydberg atom physics are reviewed in the article by Choi, Kaufmann, Cubel-Liebisch, Reinhard, and Raithel. Fascinating experiments are described in which cold, highly excited atoms (“Rydberg atoms) and cold plasmas are generated. Evidence for a collective excitation of Rydberg matter is also presented. Griffiin and Pindzola offer an account of non-perturbative quantal methods for electron-atom scattering processes. Included in the discussion are the R-matrix with pseudo-states method and the time-dependent close-coupling method. An extensive review of the R-matrix theory of atomic, molecular, and optical processes is given by Burke, Noble, and Burke. They present a systematic development of the R-matrix method and its applications to various processes such as electron-atom scattering, atomic photoionization, electron-molecule scattering, positron-atom scattering, and atomic/molecular multiphoton processes. Electron impact excitation of rare-gas atoms from both their ground and metastable states is discussed in the article by Boffard, Jung, Anderson, and Lin. Excitation cross sections measured by the optical method are reviewed with emphasis on the physical interpretation in terms of electronic structure of the target atoms. Ozier and Moazzen-Ahmadi explore internal rotation of symmetric top molecules. Developments of new experimental methods based on high-resolution torsional, vibrational, and molecular beam spectroscopy allow accurate determination of internal barriers for these symmetric molecules. The subject of attosecond and angstrom science is reviewed by Niikura and Corkum. The underlying physical mechanisms allowing one to generate attosecond radiation pulses are described and the technology needed for the preparation of such pulses is discussed. LeGouët, Bretenaker, and Lorgeré describe how rare earth ions embedded in crystals can be used for processing optically carried broadband radio-frequency signals. Methods for reaching tens of gigahertz instantaneous bandwidth with submegahertz resolution using such devices are analyzed in detail and demonstrated experimentally. Finally, in the article by Illing, Gauthier, and Roy, it is shown that small perturbations applied to optical systems can be used to suppress or control optical chaos, spatio-temporal dynamics, and patterns. Applications of these techniques to communications, laser stabilization, and improving the sensitivity of low-light optical switches are explored.
