Book Synopsis Survey of Portions of the Chromium-cobalt-nickel-molybdenum Quaternary System at 1200° C by : Sheldon Paul Rideout
Download or read book Survey of Portions of the Chromium-cobalt-nickel-molybdenum Quaternary System at 1200° C written by Sheldon Paul Rideout and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A survey was made of portions of the Chromium-cobalt-nickel-molybdenum quaternary system at 1200 degrees C by means of microscopic and x-ray diffraction studies. Since the face-centered cubic (alpha) solid solutions form the matrix of almost all practically useful high-temperature alloys, the solid solubility limits of the quaternary alpha phase were determined up to 20 percent molybdenum. The component cobalt-nickel-molybdenum, chromium-cobalt-molybdenum, and chromium-nickel-molybdenum ternary systems were also studied. The survey of these systems was confined to the determination of the boundaries of the face-centered cubic (alpha) solid solutions and of the phases coexisting with alpha at 1200 degrees C.
Book Synopsis Experimental Investigation of a 90 Degree Cascade Diffusing Bend with an Area Ratio of 1.45:1 and with Several Inlet Boundary Layers by : Daniel Friedman
Download or read book Experimental Investigation of a 90 Degree Cascade Diffusing Bend with an Area Ratio of 1.45:1 and with Several Inlet Boundary Layers written by Daniel Friedman and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was conducted in order to determine the performance of a 90 degree cascade diffusing bend with an area ratio of 1.45:1 and a 19-inch square inlet with several inlet-boundary-layer shapes and thicknesses. The maximum mean inlet Mach number was 0.41 and the corresponding airfoil Reynolds number was 950,000. The experimental results seem to indicate that, when the duct configuration requires a bend, a certain amount of diffusion can be obtained without an appreciable rise in the total-pressure losses. If length is important, this configuration requires much less space than the usual diffuser-bend combination.

This book was released on 2011-09-20 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most up-to-date coverage of welding metallurgy aspects and weldability issues associated with Ni-base alloys Welding Metallurgy and Weldability of Nickel-Base Alloys describes the fundamental metallurgical principles that control the microstructure and properties of welded Ni-base alloys. It serves as a practical how-to guide that enables engineers to select the proper alloys, filler metals, heat treatments, and welding conditions to ensure that failures are avoided during fabrication and service. Chapter coverage includes: Alloying additions, phase diagrams, and phase stability Solid-solution strengthened Ni-base alloys Precipitation strengthened Ni-base alloys Oxide dispersion strengthened alloys and nickel aluminides Repair welding of Ni-base alloys Dissimilar welding Weldability testing High-chromium alloys used in nuclear power applications With its excellent balance between the fundamentals and practical problem solving, the book serves as an ideal reference for scientists, engineers, and technicians, as well as a textbook for undergraduate and graduate courses in welding metallurgy.
Book Synopsis Engineering Materials 2 by : Michael F. Ashby
Download or read book Engineering Materials 2 written by Michael F. Ashby and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides a thorough explanation of the basic properties of materials; of how these can be controlled by processing; of how materials are formed, joined and finished; and of the chain of reasoning that leads to a successful choice of material for a particular application. The materials covered are grouped into four classes: metals, ceramics, polymers and composites. Each class is studied in turn, identifying the families of materials in the class, the microstructural features, the processes or treatments used to obtain a particular structure and their design applications. The text is supplemented by practical case studies and example problems with answers, and a valuable programmed learning course on phase diagrams.
