Book excerpt: DANS LA PREMIERE PARTIE DE CETTE THESE ON ETUDIE LE COMPORTEMENT ASYMPTOTIQUE DES TRAJECTOIRES DE SYSTEMES DYNAMIQUES DISSIPATIFS ASSOCIES A L'ETUDE DE PROBLEMES D'OPTIMISATION CONVEXES EN DIMENSION FINIE ET INFINIE. ON CONSIDERE TOUT D'ABORD LA METHODE DE NEWTON CONTINUE POUR LAQUELLE ON MONTRE, SOUS DES HYPOTHESES DE FORTE CONVEXITE, QUE LES TRAJECTOIRES CONVERGENT VERS L'UNIQUE MINIMUM. ON CONSTRUIT UN NOUVEAU SYSTEME COUPLANT LA METHODE DE NEWTON AVEC DES SCHEMAS D'APPROXIMATION, CE QUI PERMET DE SELECTIONNER DES SOLUTIONS PARTICULIERES DANS LE CAS DE PROBLEMES D'OPTIMISATION MAL POSES EN UNICITE. ON ETUDIE D'AUTRE PART LE SYSTEME DE LA BOULE PESANTE AVEC FROTTEMENT, UN SYSTEME OSCILLANT AMORTI, DONT ON MONTRE LA CONVERGENCE FAIBLE DES TRAJECTOIRES VERS DES OPTIMA. DES VERSIONS DISCRETES DES SYSTEMES DYNAMIQUES PRECEDENTS SONT ETUDIES POUR LESQUELS ON OBTIENT DES RESULTATS DE CONVERGENCE SIMILAIRES. DANS LA DEUXIEME PARTIE, ON CONSIDERE DES METHODES D'APPROXIMATION POUR CERTAINES CLASSES DE PROBLEMES VARIATIONNELS. EN DIMENSION FINIE, ON ETUDIE LA METHODE DE PENALISATION EXPONENTIELLE EN PROGRAMMATION MATHEMATIQUE CONVEXE, ET L'ON MONTRE QUE CETTE METHODE SELECTIONNE A LA LIMITE UNE SOLUTION PARTICULIERE QUE L'ON CARACTERISE PAR UN SCHEMA HIERARCHIQUE DE PROBLEMES MIN-MAX. EN DIMENSION INFINIE, ON ETUDIE L'APPROXIMATION L#P DU PROBLEME DE L'EXTENSION LIPSCHITZIENNE MINIMALE, DANS LE CAS NON HOMOGENE. ON OBTIENT UN RESULTAT DE SELECTION, UTILISANT LA NOTION DE SOLUTION DE VISCOSITE POUR UNE EQUATION ELLIPTIQUE DEGENEREE. ENFIN, ON ETUDIE L'HOMOGENEISATION DE PROBLEMES D'ELASTICITE NON LINEAIRE PAR DES METHODES DIRECTES DE -CONVERGENCE.

This book was released on 1998 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE SUJET DE LA THESE SE SITUE DANS LE CADRE DE L'ETUDE DES EQUATIONS DIFFERENTIELLES ORDINAIRES ET DES SYSTEMES DYNAMIQUES NON LINEAIRES. LA THESE PRESENTE UNE ETUDE DES ATTRACTEURS DES SYSTEMES DYNAMIQUES DISSIPATIFS. EN PARTICULIER, L'ATTRACTEUR CHAOTIQUE DE LORENZ ET LES CYCLES LIMITES DES SYSTEMES DE LIENARD. LA PREMIERE PARTIE EST DEDIEE AU SYSTEME DE LORENZ. CE SYSTEME EST OBTENU PAR SIMPLIFICATION DES EQUATIONS DE BOUSSINESQ FORMULEES DANS LE CADRE DE LA CONVECTION DE RAYLEIGH-BENARD. LE SYSTEME DE LORENZ EST IMPORTANT CAR IL EST LE PREMIER A AVOIR EXHIBE UN COMPORTEMENT CHAOTIQUE. ON UTILISE DES SECTIONS TRANSVERSES (COURBES OU SURFACES QUI NE SONT TRAVERSEES PAR LE FLOT QUE DANS UN SEUL SENS SUR TOUTE LEUR ETENDUE) POUR ACQUERIR DE L'INFORMATION SUR L'ATTRACTEUR CHAOTIQUE DU SYSTEME. POUR CELA, ON UTILISE LES FORME ALGEBRIQUES DES INTEGRALES DU MOUVEMENT POUR TROUVER DES EQUATIONS DE SECTIONS TRANSVERSES. L'EXISTENCE DES CES SECTIONS TRANSVERSES POUR DES PLAGES DE VALEURS DES PARAMETRES NOUS PERMET DE DONNER DES LIMITES ALGEBRIQUES A L'ATTRACTEUR CHAOTIQUE DU SYSTEME QUAND CELUI-CI EXISTE MAIS AUSSI DE DONNER DES PLAGES DE VALEURS DES PARAMETRES POUR LESQUELLES IL N'Y A PAS DE COMPORTEMENT CHAOTIQUE POSSIBLE. LA DEUXIEME PARTIE PRESENTE UN ALGORITHME SIMPLE QUI DONNE ACCES AU NOMBRE DE CYCLES LIMITES DES SYSTEMES DE LIENARD. EN PLUS DU NOMBRE, ON OBTIENT UNE APPROXIMATION ALGEBRIQUE DE L'EQUATION AINSI QUE LA MULTIPLICITE DE CHACUN DE CES CYCLES. LE GRAND INTERET DE CET ALGORITHME EST QU'IL NE REPOSE PAS SUR L'EXISTENCE D'UN PETIT PARAMETRE (L'ALGORITHME N'EST PAS PERTURBATIF) ET QU'IL CHANGE LE PROBLEME INITIAL DE RESOUDRE UNE EQUATION DIFFERENTIELLE NON-LINEAIRE EN UN PROBLEME ALGEBRIQUE DE COMPTER LES RACINES D'UN POLYNOME A UNE VARIABLE. ON OBTIENT AUSSI GRACE A CET ALGORITHME DES APPROXIMATIONS ALGEBRIQUES DES COURBES DE BIFURCATION (DE HOPF, SADDLE-NODE, HETEROCLINE) DES SYSTEMES DE LIENARD.

Particular attention is given to error estimators and indicators for structural analysis. The accent is on the concept of error in constitutive relation. An important part of the work is also devoted to the utilization of the error estimators involved in a calculation, beginning with the parameters related to the mesh. Many of the topics are taken from the most recent research by the authors: local error estimators, extention of the concept of error in constitutive relation to nonlinear evolution problems and dynamic problems, adaptive improvement of calculations in nonlinear mechanics. This work is intended for all those interested in mechanics: students, researchers and engineers concerned with the construction of models as well as their simulation for industrial purposes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book investigates classical and more recent methods of study for the asymptotic behavior of dissipative continuous dynamical systems with applications to ordinary and partial differential equations, the main question being convergence (or not) of the solutions to an equilibrium. After reviewing the basic concepts of topological dynamics and the definition of gradient-like systems on a metric space, the authors present a comprehensive exposition of stability theory relying on the so-called linearization method. For the convergence problem itself, when the set of equilibria is infinite, the only general results that do not require very special features of the non-linearities are presently consequences of a gradient inequality discovered by S. Lojasiewicz. The application of this inequality jointly with the so-called Liapunov-Schmidt reduction requires a rigorous exposition of Semi-Fredholm operator theory and the theory of real analytic maps on infinite dimensional Banach spaces, which cannot be found anywhere in a readily applicable form. The applications covered in this short text are the simplest, but more complicated cases are mentioned in the final chapter, together with references to the corresponding specialized papers.
