Right up to the moment he accidentally injures a member of Montreal’s most nefarious motorcycle club, the Chevaux de Fer. As recompense, Alex is forced to travel to India and escort the Club’s latest drug shipment home. While under the watchful eye of the Club’s Indian contingent and ensnared by the seductive charms of its president’s mistress, Ipsita Chaudhary, Alex begins his dark and agonizing metamorphosis from a law-abiding citizen to outlaw biker. Now, inescapably leveraged into the gang’s sinister world and with the Narcotics Control Bureau in hot pursuit, he struggles to resist the incessant pull of this dark and unfamiliar lifestyle. A lifestyle fraught with tainted love and criminal behaviour. Long dead ghosts from his past whisper to his subconscious, luring him down a twisted and terrifying path of self-realization. During a final showdown in the jungles of Goa, Alex’s conscience and ego clash in a culmination of good versus evil, love versus hate, and face off in a battle for dominance of his soul. With his moral compass skewed, he is left directionless and desperate. Will Alex embrace the passionate call of his renegade self and make the impossible choices that will change his life forever? Or could there be another, less dangerous way out?

Book Synopsis Sugar in the Canefield by : Van Cotright
Download or read book Sugar in the Canefield written by Van Cotright and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-08-23 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this fiction/romance novel depicting the struggles and accomplishments of slaves and free blacks in the late 1800 s and early 1900 s in Louisiana. The French Napoleonic laws in Louisiana in the 1800 s did not allow slaves nor free blacks to inherit property. My novel has romance between mixed couples and a suspenseful twist at the end. The novel depicts the discovering of oil underneath a sugar-cane plantation and how wealthy individuals and land barons try to steal property from a young mulatto woman who grew up on a sugar-cane plantation. After finding out about an affair her mother had with a white plantation owner she inherited the largest amount of land and plantations in Louisiana after her father passed away. As she was challenged in court by high powered, politically connected, wealthy land barons she discovered that her lawyer and the preceding judge on her case were on the side of the greedy land barons. After discovering missing legal documents and challenging the current French Napoleonic laws she prevailed in court and became one of the wealthiest female heroines of her time. I grew up in Los Angeles, Calif. in South Central with a family background in Louisiana. I have Bachelor of Science degree s in Sociology and History from Calif. State Unversity at Northridge in 1974. I now own a Consulting Company named Vanlock which consults with companies and makes deals around the globe from (1967-1989). I was recommended by former Calif. Govt. Gray Davis to a Beverly Hills Wall St. tycoon as his personal assistant for the last (22) years. I now owned a Consulting Company named Vanlock which consults with and makes deals around the globe.

Download or read book Burnt Sugar written by Avni Doshi and published by Abrams. This book was released on 2021-01-26 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shortlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize, a searing literary debut novel set in India about mothers and daughters, obsession and betrayal “I would be lying if I say my mother’s misery has never given me pleasure," says Antara, Tara’s now-adult daughter. This is a love story and a story about betrayal—not between lovers but between a mother and a daughter. . . . In her youth, Tara was wild. She abandoned her arranged marriage to join an ashram, embarked on a stint as a beggar (mostly to spite her affluent parents), and spent years chasing a disheveled, homeless “artist,” all with little Antara in tow. But now Tara is forgetting things, and Antara is an adult—an artist and married—and must search for a way to make peace with a past that haunts her as she confronts the task of caring for a woman who never cared for her. Sharp as a blade and laced with caustic wit, Burnt Sugar unpicks the slippery, choking cord of memory and myth that binds mother and daughter: Is Tara’s memory loss real? Are Antara’s memories fair? In vivid and visceral prose, Avni Doshi tells a story at once shocking and empathetic of a mother-daughter relationship and a daughter’s search for self. A journey into shifting memories, altering identities, and the subjective nature of truth, Burnt Sugar is the stunning and unforgettable debut of a major new voice in contemporary fiction.

Then, Mr. Stephan comes in with his equally massive body, stormy eyes of a pent-up predator, and a desire to stay in her heart forever. He also wants to be a part of her life, but she doesn’t know how that’s going to work. Max is too possessive over her, and he would never let another man touch her. She’s selfish.
