Download or read book Semi-Blind Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation and Channel Equalization written by Yufei Jiang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SpringerBrief investigates the performance of semi-blind independent component analysis (ICA) based equalization and carrier frequency offset estimation approaches (CFO) for a number of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless communication systems. It provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges of channel equalization and frequency synchronization for different wireless systems. The authors present the wireless communication channel and system models. Key existing CFO estimation methods are reviewed, along with a number of the training based and non-training based (blind) channel estimation methods. This is followed by a study of ICA and its applications to OFDM-based wireless communication systems. Later chapters provide a detailed description of recent research on semi-blind CFO estimation and ICA based equalization approaches for various wireless communication systems including multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) OFDM and coordinated multipoint (CoMP) systems. Semi-blind CFO estimation and equalization structures provide a spectrum-efficient and high-performance solution for high speed wireless communications. This book is suitable for postgraduate students, researchers or professionals in the area of wireless communications.

Book Synopsis Minimax Robustness in Signal Processing for Communications by : Muhammad Danish Nisar
Download or read book Minimax Robustness in Signal Processing for Communications written by Muhammad Danish Nisar and published by Shaker. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: From a signal processing for communications perspective, three fundamental transceiver design components are the channel precoder, the channel estimator, and the channel equalizer. The optimal design of these blocks is typically formulated as an optimization problem with a certain objective function, and a given constraint set. However, besides the objective function and the constraint set, their optimal design crucially depends upon the adopted system model and the assumed system state. While, optimization under a perfect knowledge of these underlying parameters (system model and state) is relatively straight forward and well explored, the optimization under their imperfect (partial or uncertain) knowledge is more involved and cumbersome. Intuitively, the central question that arises here is: should we fully trust the available imperfect knowledge of the underlying parameters, should we just ignore it, or should we go for an “intermediate” approach? This thesis deals with three crucial transceiver design problems from a signal processing for communications perspective, and attempts to answer the fundamental question of how to handle the presence of uncertainty about the design parameters in the respective optimization problem formulations.

Book Synopsis Full-Duplex Wireless Communications Systems by : Tho Le-Ngoc
Download or read book Full-Duplex Wireless Communications Systems written by Tho Le-Ngoc and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-02 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the development of self-interference (SI)-cancellation techniques for full-duplex wireless communication systems. The authors rely on estimation theory and signal processing to develop SI-cancellation algorithms by generating an estimate of the received SI and subtracting it from the received signal. The authors also cover two new SI-cancellation methods using the new concept of active signal injection (ASI) for full-duplex MIMO-OFDM systems. The ASI approach adds an appropriate cancelling signal to each transmitted signal such that the combined signals from transmit antennas attenuate the SI at the receive antennas. The authors illustrate that the SI-pre-cancelling signal does not affect the data-bearing signal. This book is for researchers and professionals working in wireless communications and engineers willing to understand the challenges of deploying full-duplex and practical solutions to implement a full-duplex system. Advanced-level students in electrical engineering and computer science studying wireless communications will also find this book useful as a secondary textbook.
