Book Synopsis Fourier Analysis by : Javier Duoandikoetxea Zuazo
Download or read book Fourier Analysis written by Javier Duoandikoetxea Zuazo and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fourier analysis encompasses a variety of perspectives and techniques. This volume presents the real variable methods of Fourier analysis introduced by Calderón and Zygmund. The text was born from a graduate course taught at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and incorporates lecture notes from a course taught by José Luis Rubio de Francia at the same university. Motivated by the study of Fourier series and integrals, classical topics are introduced, such as the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function and the Hilbert transform. The remaining portions of the text are devoted to the study of singular integral operators and multipliers. Both classical aspects of the theory and more recent developments, such as weighted inequalities, H1, BMO spaces, and the T1 theorem, are discussed. Chapter 1 presents a review of Fourier series and integrals; Chapters 2 and 3 introduce two operators that are basic to the field: the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function and the Hilbert transform in higher dimensions. Chapters 4 and 5 discuss singular integrals, including modern generalizations. Chapter 6 studies the relationship between H1, BMO, and singular integrals; Chapter 7 presents the elementary theory of weighted norm inequalities. Chapter 8 discusses Littlewood-Paley theory, which had developments that resulted in a number of applications. The final chapter concludes with an important result, the T1 theorem, which has been of crucial importance in the field. This volume has been updated and translated from the original Spanish edition (1995). Minor changes have been made to the core of the book; however, the sections, "Notes and Further Results" have been considerably expanded and incorporate new topics, results, and references. It is geared toward graduate students seeking a concise introduction to the main aspects of the classical theory of singular operators and multipliers. Prerequisites include basic knowledge in Lebesgue integrals and functional analysis.
Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis in Phase Space. (AM-122), Volume 122 by : Gerald B. Folland
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis in Phase Space. (AM-122), Volume 122 written by Gerald B. Folland and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the first coherent account of the area of analysis that involves the Heisenberg group, quantization, the Weyl calculus, the metaplectic representation, wave packets, and related concepts. This circle of ideas comes principally from mathematical physics, partial differential equations, and Fourier analysis, and it illuminates all these subjects. The principal features of the book are as follows: a thorough treatment of the representations of the Heisenberg group, their associated integral transforms, and the metaplectic representation; an exposition of the Weyl calculus of pseudodifferential operators, with emphasis on ideas coming from harmonic analysis and physics; a discussion of wave packet transforms and their applications; and a new development of Howe's theory of the oscillator semigroup.

Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis Techniques for Second Order Elliptic Boundary Value Problems by : Carlos E. Kenig
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis Techniques for Second Order Elliptic Boundary Value Problems written by Carlos E. Kenig and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1994 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, there has been a great deal of activity in the study of boundary value problems with minimal smoothness assumptions on the coefficients or on the boundary of the domain in question. These problems are of interest both because of their theoretical importance and the implications for applications, and they have turned out to have profound and fascinating connections with many areas of analysis. Techniques from harmonic analysis have proved to be extremely useful in these studies, both as concrete tools in establishing theorems and as models which suggest what kind of result might be true. Kenig describes these developments and connections for the study of classical boundary value problems on Lipschitz domains and for the corresponding problems for second order elliptic equations in divergence form. He also points out many interesting problems in this area which remain open.
Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis for Engineers and Applied Scientists by : Gregory S. Chirikjian
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis for Engineers and Applied Scientists written by Gregory S. Chirikjian and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2016-07-20 with total page 881 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the Fourier transform is among engineering's most widely used mathematical tools, few engineers realize that the extension of harmonic analysis to functions on groups holds great potential for solving problems in robotics, image analysis, mechanics, and other areas. This self-contained approach, geared toward readers with a standard background in engineering mathematics, explores the widest possible range of applications to fields such as robotics, mechanics, tomography, sensor calibration, estimation and control, liquid crystal analysis, and conformational statistics of macromolecules. Harmonic analysis is explored in terms of particular Lie groups, and the text deals with only a limited number of proofs, focusing instead on specific applications and fundamental mathematical results. Forming a bridge between pure mathematics and the challenges of modern engineering, this updated and expanded volume offers a concrete, accessible treatment that places the general theory in the context of specific groups.

This book was released on 2009-12-23 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended as an introduction to harmonic analysis and generalized Gelfand pairs. Finally a more advanced theory of generalized Gelfand pairs is developed. This book is aimed at advanced undergraduates or beginning graduate students. The scope of the book is limited, with the aim of enabling students to reach a level suitable for starting PhD research. The main prerequisites for the book are elementary real, complex and functional analysis. In the later chapters, familiarity with some more advanced functional analysis is assumed, in particular with the spectral theory of (unbounded) self-adjoint operators on a Hilbert space.
