This book was released on 2013-05-29 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structured Controllers for Uncertain Systems focuses on the development of easy-to-use design strategies for robust low-order or fixed-structure controllers (particularly the industrially ubiquitous PID controller). These strategies are based on a recently-developed stochastic optimization method termed the "Heuristic Kalman Algorithm" (HKA) the use of which results in a simplified methodology that enables the solution of the structured control problem without a profusion of user-defined parameters. An overview of the main stochastic methods employable in the context of continuous non-convex optimization problems is also provided and various optimization criteria for the design of a structured controller are considered; H ∞, H2, and mixed H2/H∞ each merits a chapter to itself. Time-domain-performance specifications can be easily incorporated in the design.

This book was released on 2018-09-17 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents a study on the design of robust controllers by using random variables to model structured uncertainty for both SISO and MIMO feedback systems. Once the parameter uncertainty is prescribed with probability density functions, its effects are propagated through the analysis leading to stochastic metrics for the system's output. Control designs that aim for satisfactory performances while guaranteeing robust closed loop stability are attained by solving constrained non-linear optimization problems in the frequency domain. This approach permits not only to quantify the probability of having unstable and unfavorable responses for a particular control design but also to search for controls while favoring the values of the parameters with higher chance of occurrence. In this manner, robust optimality is achieved while the characteristic conservatism of conventional robust control methods is eliminated. Examples that admit closed form expressions for the probabilistic metrics of the output are used to elucidate the nature of the problem at hand and validate the proposed formulations.Padula, Sharon L. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the evolution of feedback theory, from its simplest form to more complex guises, and connects this to the control of complex systems. It systematically develops a new approach to the synthesis of non-linear feedback controllers under uncertainty. This book aims to increase the understanding of potential reactions of such systems to uncertain forces and unknown factors contained in feedback mechanisms. The theoretical basis for a new generation of perfect automatic systems is introduced.

Download or read book Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems written by Shankar P. Bhattacharyya and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-09-23 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of 34 papers presented by leading researchers at the International Workshop on Robust Control held in San Antonio, Texas in March 1991. The common theme tying these papers together is the analysis, synthesis, and design of control systems subject to various uncertainties. The papers describe the latest results in parametric understanding, H8 uncertainty, l1 optical control, and Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT). The book is the first to bring together all the diverse points of view addressing the robust control problem and should strongly influence development in the robust control field for years to come. For this reason, control theorists, engineers, and applied mathematicians should consider it a crucial acquisition for their libraries.
Book Synopsis Control of Uncertain Systems with Bounded Inputs by : Sophie Tarbouriech
Download or read book Control of Uncertain Systems with Bounded Inputs written by Sophie Tarbouriech and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In practical control problems, many constraints have to be handled in order to design controllers which operate in a real environment. By combining results on robust control and saturating control, this book attempts to provide positive help for practical situations and, as one of the first books to merge the two control fields, it should generate considerable interest in scientific/acad emic circles. The ten chapters, which deal with stabilization and control of both linear and nonlinear systems, are each independent in their approach - some deal purely with theoretical results whilst others concentrate on ways in which the theory can be applied. The book's unity is secured by the desire to formulate control design requirements through constraints on input and model uncertainty description.

Download or read book Robust Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems written by Rama K. Yedavalli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-05 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook aims to provide a clear understanding of the various tools of analysis and design for robust stability and performance of uncertain dynamic systems. In model-based control design and analysis, mathematical models can never completely represent the “real world” system that is being modeled, and thus it is imperative to incorporate and accommodate a level of uncertainty into the models. This book directly addresses these issues from a deterministic uncertainty viewpoint and focuses on the interval parameter characterization of uncertain systems. Various tools of analysis and design are presented in a consolidated manner. This volume fills a current gap in published works by explicitly addressing the subject of control of dynamic systems from linear state space framework, namely using a time-domain, matrix-theory based approach. This book also: Presents and formulates the robustness problem in a linear state space model framework. Illustrates various systems level methodologies with examples and applications drawn from aerospace, electrical and mechanical engineering. Provides connections between lyapunov-based matrix approach and the transfer function based polynomial approaches. Robust Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems: A Linear State Space Approach is an ideal book for first year graduate students taking a course in robust control in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering.

Book Synopsis Adaptive Backstepping Control of Uncertain Systems with Actuator Failures, Subsystem Interactions, and Nonsmooth Nonlinearities by : Wei Wang
Download or read book Adaptive Backstepping Control of Uncertain Systems with Actuator Failures, Subsystem Interactions, and Nonsmooth Nonlinearities written by Wei Wang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-09-18 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In practice, actuators often undergo failures and various factors influence its effectiveness. Also due to the increasing complexity of large-scale systems, subsystems are often interconnected, whereas the interactions between any two subsystems are difficult to deal with. This book details a series of new methodologies of designing and analyzing adaptive backstepping control systems involving treatment on actuator failures, subsystem interactions and nonsmooth nonlinearities. Moreover, it discusses some interesting open issues in adaptive failure accommodation, decentralized adaptive control and distributed adaptive coordinated control.

Book Synopsis A General Framework for Robust Analysis and Control by : Joost Veenman
Download or read book A General Framework for Robust Analysis and Control written by Joost Veenman and published by Logos Verlag Berlin. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis we are concerned with the robustness analysis and control of uncertain systems. We built upon a powerful framework, the so-called integral quadratic constraint (IQC) approach, which enables us, not only to efficiently perform robust stability and performance analysis for a large class of uncertain systems, but also to systematically design robust controllers via solving linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and convex optimization problems. Indeed, as main contribution, we reveal that the IQC-framework is not only useful for analysis purposes, but also has great potential for a rather diverse class of synthesis questions, some of which have already been addressed in the literature, while others have not. This includes scenarios such as nominal output feedback control, nominal gain-scheduling control, robust estimator or observer design, robust feedforward control, generalized l2-synthesis, multi-objective and structured controller synthesis, robust open-loop controller synthesis, gain-scheduling control with uncertain performance weights and robust controller synthesis with unstable weight, among others.
