Book excerpt: This second book by Coach Thibaudeau focuses more on the science of strength as well as the various methods you can use to boost your strength and power. A great tool for athletes of all kinds! Also includes information on electromyostimulation, chains, bands, weight releasers and over 30 different training methods! This second book of mine (the first one being The Black Book of Training Secrets) is a gift to myself. I've wanted to write something specifically for athletes and strength coaches for a long time; put something out there that would revolutionize how high level athletes undertake their training. But I'm not utopic. I don't believe that this book will usher strength & power training into a new era. However, I'm sure that all of you will learn a lot of new training means, methods, and methodics from this book. What it will do is add a few tools to your coaching/athletic toolbox, allowing you to reach a new level of success in your training (or your athlete's).

Book excerpt: The subject of Strength, Power, Honour and Glory, based on the research topics conducted by Fernand D'Amico and Jacques Wisman, is proposed in this book as a themed walk through the passages of Scripture from the Old and New Testament. The biblical text (KJV) is presented deliberately devoid of additional comments to offer an immediate and direct perception of the selected track. The thematic reading of the biblical text opens to the reader as a fascinating experience that allows him to benefit in a short time, a surprising and rich picture of content. The plot of values that underlies the biblical text is very complex and lends itself to readings are not always shared. The strength and power are essential to human nature, but against the backdrop of a natural positive development, adding value-connotations, in fact are dependent on the particular context in which they occur. The honor and glory depend on a good use of force and power, according to the biblical text.

Author Dan Schaeffer explores these questions and helps us grasp the biblical truth that God longs to use our limitations to display His greatness. The Power of Weakness invites you to trust God with your abilities and inabilities and find relief from the wearying pursuit of success.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many consumers feel powerless in the face of big industry’s interests. And the dominant view of economic regulators (influenced by Mancur Olson’s book The Logic of Collective Action, published in 1965) agrees with them. According to this view, diffuse interests like those of consumers are too difficult to organize and too weak to influence public policy, which is determined by the concentrated interests of industrial-strength players. Gunnar Trumbull makes the case that this view represents a misreading of both the historical record and the core logic of interest representation. Weak interests, he reveals, quite often emerge the victors in policy battles. Based on a cross-national set of empirical case studies focused on the consumer, retail, credit, pharmaceutical, and agricultural sectors, Strength in Numbers develops an alternative model of interest representation. The central challenge in influencing public policy, Trumbull argues, is not organization but legitimation. How do diffuse consumer groups convince legislators that their aims are more legitimate than industry’s? By forging unlikely alliances among the main actors in the process: activists, industry, and regulators. Trumbull explains how these “legitimacy coalitions” form around narratives that tie their agenda to a broader public interest, such as expanded access to goods or protection against harm. Successful legitimizing tactics explain why industry has been less powerful than is commonly thought in shaping agricultural policy in Europe and pharmaceutical policy in the United States. In both instances, weak interests carried the day.
