This book was released on 2023-05-20 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " " Language is one of the highest forms of expression. It acts as the medium to make our ideas, thoughts and feelings understood and appreciated. Like art, language can touch the heart and inspire the soul. And, at the heart and soul of a language, lies its grammar. Grammar helps the learners build a firm foundation for using the language. It is, therefore, very important for learners to develop the grammar skills that they need in order to express themselves meaningfully and creatively. Step-up English Grammar and Composition 1-8 is an NEP-aligned, carefully-graded grammar series developed to address the need of a systematic and step-wise strategy for understanding grammar. The series is based on the eclectic approach to language acquisition and presents a smooth blend of the inductive as well as the deductive method of teaching and learning the language. Each concept has been covered in detail, and great care has been taken to offer the relevant core concepts for the learners at each level. Last but not least, the utmost care has been taken to encapsulate in the series the key parameters laid down in National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The NEP places the learner at the heart of the teaching-learning process. In recent years, there has been a paradigm shift towards designing a learner-centric curriculum that is based on an activity-based approach. There is also an equal emphasis on equipping young learners with essential twenty-first-century skills. The text as well as the activities in the book promote the holistic development of the learners. Besides, there is a lot of emphasis on enhancing the creativity, critical thinking, and communication and collaboration skills of learners. Salient Features of the Book • A conscious effort has been made to incorporate the major NEP specifications. • Simple, clear and detailed explanations of essential grammatical concepts have been given. • Explanations are followed by ample examples and a variety of well-graded exercises to reinforce the concepts. • Simple and clear instructions have been given in the exercises for easy understanding. • Fun-based, art-integrated exercises, together with a wide range of activities like grids and puzzles, have been used to bring the joy of learning to the classroom. • There is also a great emphasis on building cross-curricular, grade-appropriate vocabulary through exercises and comprehension. • Speaking activities have been made a part of the grammar exercises to instil more confidence in the learners. • All the explanations and exercises have been coupled with learner-friendly layout and illustrations for additional support. • Test papers have been introduced periodically to check if the learners have grasped the concepts. • Teacher's Resource Books comprise lessons plans, additional activities and teaching guidelines along with the answer key for each book. They are meant to serve as a handy aid for teachers and facilitate a wholesome teaching-learning experience. We hope this series caters to the requirements of the teachers as well as the students and meets our expectations in serving as a guide to the next generation of global citizens. While every possible effort has been made to avoid errors and omissions, any constructive suggestions for the improvement of the series will be welcomed and incorporated in future editions. Book excerpt: When you Read Like a Writer (RLW) you work to identify some of the choices the author made so that you can better understand how such choices might arise in your own writing. The idea is to carefully examine the things you read, looking at the writerly techniques in the text in order to decide if you might want to adopt similar (or the same) techniques in your writing. You are reading to learn about writing. Instead of reading for content or to better understand the ideas in the writing (which you will automatically do to some degree anyway), you are trying to understand how the piece of writing was put together by the author and what you can learn about writing by reading a particular text. As you read in this way, you think about how the choices the author made and the techniques that he/she used are influencing your own responses as a reader. What is it about the way this text is written that makes you feel and respond the way you do?

This effective guide blends clear, visual instruction with 5 step-by-step demonstrations to show you how to plan and paint your best work yet. Composition is the key, and here you'll learn to design paintings with new skill and confidence. It all begins with the armature or structure of the picture plane. Every great painting has one, and you'll see through several famous examples exactly how the Old Masters used armatures to create movement, narrative, harmony and fluidity. Based on these examples, you'll practice what you've learned following a series of hands-on demonstrations. Once you understand the basic principles of design, you'll be amazed at how quickly and effectively your compositions come together. Soon you will be painting more boldly and confidently than ever before with less reworking and overworking. Whether you're a beginner looking for basic instruction or a more advanced painter troubleshooting a specific problem, the proven methods in this book will work for you. Ideal for all mediums, Mastering Composition gives you the knowledge you need to create powerful paintings out of every subject.

So you're a high school senior given the task of writing a 650-word personal statement for your college application. Do you tell the story of your life, or a story from your life? Do you choose a single moment? If so, which one? The options seem endless. Lucky for you, they're not. College counselor Ethan Sawyer (aka The College Essay Guy) will show you that there are only four (really, four!) types of college admission essays. And all you have to do to figure out which type is best for you is answer two simple questions: 1. Have you experienced significant challenges in your life? 2. Do you know what you want to be or do in the future? With these questions providing the building blocks for your essay, Sawyer guides you through the rest of the process, from choosing a structure to revising your essay, and answers the big questions that have probably been keeping you up at night: How do I brag in a way that doesn't sound like bragging? and How do I make my essay, like, deep? Packed with tips, tricks, exercises, and sample essays from real students who got into their dream schools, College Essay Essentials is the only college essay guide to make this complicated process logical, simple, and (dare we say it?) a little bit fun.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Musicology, having been transmitted as a compilation of disparate events and disciplines, has long necessitated a 'magic bullet', a 'unified field theory' so to speak, that can interpret the steady metamorphosis of Western art music from late medieval modality to twentieth-century atonality within a single theoretical construct. Without that magic bullet, discussions of this kind are increasingly complicated and, to make matters worse, the validity of any transformational models and ideas of the natural evolution of styles is questioned and even frowned upon today as epitomizing a grotesque teleological bigotry. Going against current thinking, Henry Burnett and Roy Nitzberg claim that the teleological approach to observing stylistic change is still valid when considered from the purely compositional perspective. The authors challenge the traditional understanding of development, and advance a new theory of eleven-pitch tonality as it relates to the corpus of Western composition. The book plots the evolution of tonality and its bearing on style and the compositional process itself. The theory is not based on the diatonic aspect of the various tonal systems exploited by composers; rather, the theory is chromatically based - the chromatically inflected octave being the source not only of a highly ingenious developmental dialectic, but also encompassing the moment-to-moment progression of the musical narrative itself. Even the most profound teachings of Schenker, and the often startlingly original and worthwhile speculations of Riemann, Tovey, Dahlhaus and others, still provide no theory of development and so are ultimately unable to unite the various tendrils of the compositional organism into a unified whole. Burnett and Nitzberg move beyond existing theory and analysis to base their theory from the standpoint of chromatic 'pitch fields'. These fields are the specific chromatic pitch choices that a composer uses to inform and design a complete composition, utilizing

Theworkshopintendedtobringresearchers, scientistsfrombothindustryand academics,andrepresentativesfromdi?erentcommunitiestogethertostudy,- derstand, and explore the phases that compose the lifecycle of Semantic Web processes. The workshop presented what can be achieved by the symbiotic s- thesis of two of the hottest R&D and technology application areas, Web services and the Semantic Web, as recognized at the 12th International World Wide Web conference (WWW 2003) and in the industry press. The emphasis of the workshop was mainly on Web services, Web processes and semantics which are important movements emerging in the World Wide Web. Web services and Web processes promise to ease several current infr- tructure challenges, such as data, application, and process integration. Web s- vices are truly platform-independent and allow the development of distributed, loosely coupled applications, a key characteristic for the success of dynamic Web processes.
