Book Synopsis Nonclinical Statistics for Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries by : Lanju Zhang
Download or read book Nonclinical Statistics for Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries written by Lanju Zhang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-13 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book serves as a reference text for regulatory, industry and academic statisticians and also a handy manual for entry level Statisticians. Additionally it aims to stimulate academic interest in the field of Nonclinical Statistics and promote this as an important discipline in its own right. This text brings together for the first time in a single volume a comprehensive survey of methods important to the nonclinical science areas within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Specifically the Discovery and Translational sciences, the Safety/Toxiology sciences, and the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls sciences. Drug discovery and development is a long and costly process. Most decisions in the drug development process are made with incomplete information. The data is rife with uncertainties and hence risky by nature. This is therefore the purview of Statistics. As such, this book aims to introduce readers to important statistical thinking and its application in these nonclinical areas. The chapters provide as appropriate, a scientific background to the topic, relevant regulatory guidance, current statistical practice, and further research directions.
Book Synopsis Process–Structure–Properties in Polymer Additive Manufacturing by : Swee Leong Sing
Download or read book Process–Structure–Properties in Polymer Additive Manufacturing written by Swee Leong Sing and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-09-01 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Additive manufacturing (AM) methods have grown and evolved rapidly in recent years. AM for polymers is an exciting field and has great potential in transformative and translational research in many fields, such as biomedical, aerospace, and even electronics. Current methods for polymer AM include material extrusion, material jetting, vat polymerisation, and powder bed fusion. With the promise of more applications, detailed understanding of AM—from the processability of the feedstock to the relationship between the process–structure–properties of AM parts—has become more critical. More research work is needed in material development to widen the choice of materials for polymer additive manufacturing. Modelling and simulations of the process will allow the prediction of microstructures and mechanical properties of the fabricated parts while complementing the understanding of the physical phenomena that occurs during the AM processes. In this book, state-of-the-art reviews and current research are collated, which focus on the process–structure–properties relationships in polymer additive manufacturing.

Book Synopsis Selective Laser Melting: Materials and Applications by : Prashanth Konda Gokuldoss
Download or read book Selective Laser Melting: Materials and Applications written by Prashanth Konda Gokuldoss and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Additive manufacturing (AM) is one of the manufacturing processes that warrants the attention of industrialists, researchers, and scientists. AM has the ability to fabricate materials to produce parts with complex shapes without any theoretical restrictions combined with added functionalities. Selective laser melting (SLM), also known as laser-based powder bed processing (LPBF), is one of the main AM process that can be used to fabricate wide variety of materials that are Al-, Ti-, Fe-, Ni-, Co-, W-, Ag-, and Au-based, etc. However, several challenges need to be addressed systematically, such as development of new materials that suit the SLM process conditions so the process capabilities can be fully used to produce new properties in these materials. Other issues in the field are the lack of microstructure-property correlations, premature failure, etc. Accordingly, this Special Issue (book) focuses mainly on the microstructure-correlation in three different alloys: AlSi10Mg, Ti6Al4V, and 304L stainless steel, where six articles are presented. Hence, this Special Issue outlines microstructure-property correlations in the SLM processed materials and provides a value addition to the field of AM.
Book Synopsis Response Modeling Methodology by : Haim Shore
Download or read book Response Modeling Methodology written by Haim Shore and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces a new approach, denoted RMM, for an empirical modeling of a response variation, relating to both systematic variation and random variation. In the book, the developer of RMM discusses the required properties of empirical modeling and evaluates how current approaches conform to these requirements. In addition, he explains the motivation for the development of the new methodology, introduces in detail the new approach and its estimation procedures, and shows how it may provide an excellent alternative to current approaches for empirical modeling (like Generalized Linear Modeling, GLM). The book also demonstrates that a myriad of current relational models, developed independently in various engineering and scientific disciplines, are in fact special cases of the RMM model, and so are many current statistical distributions, transformations and approximations.

This book was released on 2020-03-21 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This innovative book presents the latest insights into hamstring strain injuries (HSI), one of the most common problems in elite and recreational sport, with a unique focus on prevention and rehabilitation. The research within this area has evolved rapidly over the past 10 years and this text offers a comprehensive overview of the recent and most relevant advances. It fills a gap in the literature, since other books focus on muscle injuries in general and their surgical treatment.Structured around the current evidence in the field, it includes sections on functional anatomy and biomechanics; basic muscle physiology in relation to injury and repair; assessment of risk factors; and factors associated with hamstring strains. It also discusses considerations in relation to acute and chronic injuries and hamstring injury prevention, including pre-season and in-season interventions, as well as management strategies and rehabilitation protocols. The final chapter is devoted to additional interventions when conservative rehabilitation and injury prevention fail. Written by renowned experts in the field, this book will be of great interest to sports physiotherapists, sports physicians, physical trainers and coaches.
