With this book he continues to share his journey into blindness with the world through his heartfelt honest poetry. Stand by me RP: Volume 2 is a glimpse into the tunnelled world of those who live with Retinitis Pigmentosa. His words are guaranteed to bring a tear, a smile, hope and awareness of what for most continues to be a misunderstood condition. Introduction from the Author Stand By Me RP: Volume 2 picks up from where the first book left off; giving a unique glimpse in to the ever fading world of those living with sight loss. Through my poetry I strive to raise awareness, erase the many misconceptions and show those who at times feel isolated that they are not alone. I hope these words will continue to bring comfort, hope and inspiration to the blind community and as with the previous book I hope the friends and family of those with visual impairments will continue to use my message in verse as a way to understand what many of us feel but at times find it difficult to say. Book Synopsis David Makinson on Classical Methods for Non-Classical Problems by : Sven Ove Hansson
Download or read book David Makinson on Classical Methods for Non-Classical Problems written by Sven Ove Hansson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-20 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume analyses and develops David Makinson’s efforts to make classical logic useful outside its most obvious application areas. The book contains chapters that analyse, appraise, or reshape Makinson’s work and chapters that develop themes emerging from his contributions. These are grouped into major areas to which Makinsons has made highly influential contributions and the volume in its entirety is divided into four sections, each devoted to a particular area of logic: belief change, uncertain reasoning, normative systems and the resources of classical logic. Among the contributions included in the volume, one chapter focuses on the “inferential preferential method”, i.e. the combined use of classical logic and mechanisms of preference and choice and provides examples from Makinson’s work in non-monotonic and defeasible reasoning and belief revision. One chapter offers a short autobiography by Makinson which details his discovery of modern logic, his travels across continents and reveals his intellectual encounters and inspirations. The chapter also contains an unusually explicit statement on his views on the (limited but important) role of logic in philosophy.

This book was released on 2016-09-01 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the research on bullying and peer victimization has increased considerably over the past 20 years, a number of studies are emerging that document mixed results of bullying and prevention programs. During the last decades, several special issues devoted to research on bullying and victimization have been published in national and international scholarly journals. Based on the increase of published articles on bullying and victimization in journals, textbooks, government reports, and documents in professional organizations, it is timely for a special volume on research on bullying and victimization to appear in the series on Contemporary Perspectives in Early Childhood Education. The purpose of this volume is to share a collection of research strands on bullying and victimization of young children. It describes the historical roots and suggests anti?bullying programs and strategies to decrease bullying and victimization. The bullying and victimization volume can be a valuable tool to researchers who are conducting studies in that area. It focuses on important historical and contemporary issues on bullying and victimization in early childhood education (ages 0 to 8) to provide the information necessary to make judgments about these issues. It also motivates and guides researchers to explore gaps on research on bullying and victimization.
