Book Synopsis Stabilization of Elastic Systems by Collocated Feedback by : Kaïs Ammari
Download or read book Stabilization of Elastic Systems by Collocated Feedback written by Kaïs Ammari and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-03 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By introducing a new stabilization methodology, this book characterizes the stability of a certain class of systems. The stability (exponential, polynomial, or weaker) for the closed loop problem is reduced to an observability estimate for the corresponding uncontrolled system combined with a boundedness property of the transfer function of the associated open loop system. A similar strategy is applied to systems where a delay term is added. The book concludes with many concrete examples. This book is addressed to graduate students in mathematics or engineering and also to researchers with an interest in stabilization and control systems governed by partial differential equations.
Book Synopsis Stabilization of Kelvin-Voigt Damped Systems by : Kaïs Ammari
Download or read book Stabilization of Kelvin-Voigt Damped Systems written by Kaïs Ammari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph examines the stability of various coupled systems with local Kelvin-Voigt damping. The development of this area is thoroughly reviewed along with the authors’ contributions. New results are featured on the fundamental properties of solutions of linear transmission evolution PDEs involving Kelvin-Voigt damping, with special emphasis on the asymptotic behavior of these solutions. The vibrations of transmission problems are highlighted as well, making this a valuable resource for those studying this active area of research. The book begins with a brief description of the abstract theory of linear evolution equations with a particular focus on semigroup theory. Different types of stability are also introduced along with their connection to resolvent estimates. After this foundation is established, different models are presented for uni-dimensional and multi-dimensional linear transmission evolution partial differential equations with Kelvin-Voigt damping. Stabilization of Kelvin-Voigt Damped Systems will be a useful reference for researchers in mechanics, particularly those interested in the study of control theory of PDEs.
Book Synopsis Stability of Elastic Multi-Link Structures by : Kaïs Ammari
Download or read book Stability of Elastic Multi-Link Structures written by Kaïs Ammari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-16 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brief investigates the asymptotic behavior of some PDEs on networks. The structures considered consist of finitely interconnected flexible elements such as strings and beams (or combinations thereof), distributed along a planar network. Such study is motivated by the need for engineers to eliminate vibrations in some dynamical structures consisting of elastic bodies, coupled in the form of chain or graph such as pipelines and bridges. There are other complicated examples in the automotive industry, aircraft and space vehicles, containing rather than strings and beams, plates and shells. These multi-body structures are often complicated, and the mathematical models describing their evolution are quite complex. For the sake of simplicity, this volume considers only 1-d networks.

Book Synopsis Partial Stabilization and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems with Elastic Elements by : Alexander L. Zuyev
Download or read book Partial Stabilization and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems with Elastic Elements written by Alexander L. Zuyev and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-04 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph provides a rigorous treatment of problems related to partial asymptotic stability and controllability for models of flexible structures described by coupled nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations or equations in abstract spaces. The text is self-contained, beginning with some basic results from the theory of continuous semigroups of operators in Banach spaces. The problem of partial asymptotic stability with respect to a continuous functional is then considered for a class of abstract multivalued systems on a metric space. Next, the results of this study are applied to the study of a rotating body with elastic attachments. Professor Zuyev demonstrates that the equilibrium cannot be made strongly asymptotically stable in the general case, motivating consideration of the problem of partial stabilization with respect to the functional that represents “averaged” oscillations. The book’s focus moves on to spillover analysis for infinite-dimensional systems with finite-dimensional controls. It is shown that a family of L2-minimal controls, corresponding to low frequencies, can be used to obtain approximate solutions of the steering problem for the complete system. The book turns from the examination of an abstract class of systems to particular physical examples. Timoshenko beam theory is exploited in studying a mathematical model of a flexible-link manipulator. Finally, a mechanical system consisting of a rigid body with the Kirchhoff plate is considered. Having established that such a system is not controllable in general, sufficient controllability conditions are proposed for the dynamics on an invariant manifold. Academic researchers and graduate students interested in control theory and mechanical engineering will find Partial Stabilization and Control of Distributed-Parameter Systems with Elastic Elements a valuable and authoritative resource for investigations on the subject of partial stabilization.

Book Synopsis Advances in Computational Multibody Systems by : Jorge A.C. Ambrósio
Download or read book Advances in Computational Multibody Systems written by Jorge A.C. Ambrósio and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among all the fields in solid mechanics the methodologies associated to multibody dynamics are probably those that provide a better framework to aggregate different disciplines. This idea is clearly reflected in the multidisciplinary applications in biomechanics that use multibody dynamics to describe the motion of the biological entities, or in finite elements where the multibody dynamics provides powerful tools to describe large motion and kinematic restrictions between system components, or in system control for which multibody dynamics are the prime form of describing the systems under analysis, or even in applications with fluid-structures interaction or aeroelasticity. This book contains revised and enlarged versions of selected communications presented at the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference in Multibody Dynamics 2003 that took place in Lisbon, Portugal, which have been enhanced in their self-containment and tutorial aspects by the authors. The result is a comprehensive text that constitutes a valuable reference for researchers and design engineers and helps to appraise the potential of application of multibody dynamics to a wide range of scientific and engineering areas of relevance.
