Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: For the various radial locations of the outer inlet slot, it was noted that a position at approximately 75% of the nozzle radius produced the largest free surface height. The largest cone angle was produced when the outer inlet slot was positioned at the edge of the nozzle top plate. Another factor that increased the radial height and cone angle of the free surface was the working fluid used in the study. A larger Reynolds number produced a larger cone angle and larger free surface height (while a smaller Reynolds number produced a less significant cone angle and free surface height).

Book Synopsis Dry Scrubbing Technologies for Flue Gas Desulfurization by : Barbara Toole-O'Neil

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 895 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dry sulfurization processes offer the significant advantages of low capital and low operating costs when compared to wet desulfurization. They hold great potential for the economical reduction of sulfur emissions from power utilities that use high-sulfur coal. Dry Scrubbing Technologies for Flue Gas Desulfurization represents a body of research that was sponsored by the State of Ohio's Coal Development Office for the development of technologies that use coal in an economic, environmentally-sound manner. One of the project's major goals was the development of dry, calcium-based sorption processes for removing sulfur dioxide from the combustion gases produced by high-sulfur coal. Dry Scrubbing Technologies for Flue Gas Desulfurization highlights a number of fundamental research findings that have had a significant and lasting impact in terms of scientific understanding. For example, the experimental investigation of the upper-furnace sulfur capture obtained time-resolved kinetic data in less than 100 millisecond time-scales for the first time ever, thereby revealing the true nature of the ultra-fast and overlapping phenomena. This was accomplished through the development of a unique entrained flow reactor system. The authors also identify a number of important areas for future research, including reaction mechanisms, sorbent material, transport effects, modeling, and process development. Dry Scrubbing Technologies for Flue Gas Desulfurization will appeal to both chemical and environmental engineers who examine different ways touse coal in a more environmentally benign manner. It will make an essential reference for air pollution control researchers from coal, lime, cement, and utility industries; for government policy-makers and environmental regulatory agencies; and for those who teach graduate courses in environmental issues, pollution control technologies, and environmental policy.

This book was released on 1969 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new technique is presented for the numerical solution of quasi-one-dimensional, vibrational and chemical nonequilibrium nozzle flows including nonequilibrium conditions both upstream and downstream of the throat. This new technique is a time-dependent analysis which entails the explicite finite-difference solution of the quasi-one-dimensional unsteady flow equations in steps of time, starting with assumed initial distributions throughout the nozzle. The steady-state solution is approached at large values of time. A virtue of the present time-dependent analysis is its simplicity, which prevails from its initial physical formulation to the successful receipt of numerical results. Also, the present solution yields the transient as well as the steady-state nonequilibrium nozzle flows. To exemplify the present analysis, results are given for several cases of vibrational and chemical nonequilibrium expansions through nozzles. (Author).

Download or read book Influence of Orifice Nozzle Geometry on Flow and Spray Characteristics written by Noor Azuani Suliman and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presented about the effects of nozzle orifice geometry on flow and spray characteristics. The thesis deals with the analysis on the different inlet diameter of nozzle orifice and the different inlet pressure on the flow and also spray characteristics. The objective of this thesis is to compare the final performance of flow and spray characteristics between the different designs of nozzle orifice. Besides that, the purpose of this thesis is to determine the flow and spray characteristics with different inlet diameter of nozzle orifice. This thesis also purposes to study the flow and spray characteristics with different inlet pressure. The geometry of nozzle orifice used is the inlet diameter and the parameter used is the pressure. The data used for analysis is obtained from the simulation by using Solidworks 2012 software. The post-processing method was performed using the simulation with certain parameters that can be chose and graph is plotted by using assistance software such as Microsoft Excel. From the result, it is observed that the performance of 150 μm diameter of nozzle orifice with inlet pressure of 250 bar is better than other combination of inlet diameter and inlet pressure. Future work, this comparison between different inlet diameter and different inlet pressure must do in experimental to support the result. There are many factors of geometry and parameters that required doing the comparison in order to study the flow and spray characteristics.
