Ihre Erstsprachen wurden dabei weitest möglich ignoriert. Eine Änderung des Blickpunkts wurde vor allem mit den Forschungsergebnissen des kanadischen Sprachforschers Jim Cummins eingeleitet, der die Erstsprache zur Wegbereiterin der Zweitsprache erklärte. Dies hatte zur Folge, dass die Ausgrenzung der Erstsprachen der Kinder nicht nur unter spracherwerbstheoretischen, sondern auch unter psychologischen und intellektuellen Gesichtspunkten geprüft wurde und man letztlich konstatierte, dass die Erstsprache in allen Bereichen von äußerst relevanter Bedeutung für die allgemeine kindliche Entwicklung war. Trotz der bestehenden Erkenntnislage wurden bisher aber nur wenige, dieser Richtung entsprechende Leitideen in die Praxis umgesetzt (vgl.Jampert 2002:10). Vielmehr gestaltet sich die Landschaft der sprachförderprogramme in Deutschland im Elementarbereich als unüberschaubar und uneinheitlich. Es mangelt an Konzepten, die den Fachkräften einen Umgang mit mehrsprachigen Kindern vermitteln, in dem eine Förderung ihrer deutschsprachigen Fähigkeiten ermöglicht wird, die aber zugleich nicht ihre Multikulturalität ignorieren ( vgl. Jampert 2007:11). Zu diesem Zweck möchte ich in meiner Arbeit das Konzept eines Sprachförderprojekts vorstellen, das sich seit einigen Jahren erfolgreich in vielen Städten Deutschlands etabliert hat und einen Ansatz verfolgt, der versucht den oben beschriebenen Ansprüchen gerecht zu werden: Das Stadtteilmütter-Projekt der Stadt Augsburg. Die Besonderheit des Konzepts liegt bei der Berücksichtigung der Erstsprachen, die als Fundament des Zweitspracherwerbs angesehen und in koordinierter Form parallel zum Deutschen gefördert werden sowie in einer starken Einbindung der Familien in die Lernprozesse. Die Zielstellung dieser Arbeit liegt daher bei der Erforschung der sprachlichen und sozialen Auswirkungen des Projektansatzes bei den Aktanten, insbesondere vor dem Hintergrund der bedeutsamen Rolle, die der Erstsprache in diesem Ansatz eingeräumt wird.

In dieser Arbeit wird im Wesentlichen der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich die Benachteiligung der Migrantenkinder kompensieren lässt und insbesondere, wie diese Kinder schon frühzeitig in ihrer Sprachkompetenz in der deutschen Sprache gefördert werden können. So wird nachhaltig auf den Zusammenhang zwischen Erst- und Zweitspracherwerb und auf die Relevanz der frühen Zweisprachigkeit aufmerksam gemacht, wobei sowohl die Praxis innerhalb der Kindertagestätten als auch die Sprachförderkonzepte in diese Betrachtung miteinbezogen werden. Die Bedeutung der Erstsprache auf den Zweitspracherwerb wird dargestellt und über diese Darstellung werden in Verbindung mit der Bewertung verschiedener Sprachförderkonzepte die positiven Aspekte der Mehrsprachigkeit hervorgehoben. Um diese Ziele erreichen zu können, ist der interdisziplinäre Ansatz dieser Arbeit unerlässlich; es werden somit Erkenntnisse der Linguistik, der Neurobiologie sowie der Sozialpädagogik und der Interkulturellen Pädagogik herangezogen.
