Book Synopsis Schizophrenia Or Spirit Possession? by : MR Mike Williamson
Download or read book Schizophrenia Or Spirit Possession? written by MR Mike Williamson and published by . This book was released on 2014-06-19 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While working as a medium over the past 35 years, I have met many people who thought they were mentally ill because they were hearing voices. There are people who will live their lives taking medication they don't need, because the medical profession don't believe people's brain can be affected by discarnate spirit. There are other causes for hearing voices and having mood swings etc. Like the side affects when taking medication and certain illness's. When these have been eliminated there can be only one cause. Scientists study the brain looking for abnormalities to explain mental illness, but it is not always the brain. The problem is from another source, the spirit world. The criteria for diagnosing Schizophrenia is discussed and there is no pathology for Schizophrenia. It can be seen that if medical science was right, then anyone who is in touch with the spirit world, including mediums are either Schizophrenic, Bi-polar or have Multiple personality disorder. The brain is like a receiver, it receives information from external sources through senses such as sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. There is another sense called the sixth sense. this information is received in the brain in the same way as the physical sense except there is no physical presence to the sensations received. This can lead to conflicting and often confusing information that the conscious cannot process correctly as it has no relationship to the physical world. If we consider the brain as the receiver and the conscious as the physical then the subconscious is the spiritual part of our reality. The energy that is life is spiritual, which is where the mind resides and where we store all the knowledge and experiences of our existence. When we remember something we are accessing our mind, much like a computer does the hard drive, to bring the memory to the conscious ness. Like a computer that has access to the internet the brain has access via the mind to the spiritual reality. Unfortunately like the computer which can be affected by a virus the brain can also be affected by other minds in the spirit world. The brain doesn't always recognise the location the information is coming from and so will accept it as genuine. It's only by tuning the receiver or brain that we learn to recognise the correct location the information is coming from. There are times when the information is coming from a malevolent source, this can lead to misconceptions as to what is and isn't real. This book explores the problems and the lack of understanding by the medical and scientific world in relation to some mental illness's being experienced by people in the modern world.
Book Synopsis The Spiritual Gift of Madness by : Seth Farber
Download or read book The Spiritual Gift of Madness written by Seth Farber and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-04-17 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A bold call for the “insane” to reclaim their rightful role as prophets of spiritual and cultural transformation • Explains how many of those diagnosed as schizophrenic, bipolar, and other forms of “madness” are not ill but experiencing a spiritual awakening • Explores the rise of Mad Pride and the mental patients’ liberation movement • Reveals how those seen as “mad” must embrace their spiritual gifts to help the coming global spiritual transition Many of the great prophets of the past experienced madness--a breakdown followed by a breakthrough, spiritual death followed by rebirth. With the advent of modern psychiatry, the budding prophets of today are captured and transformed into chronic mental patients before they can flower into the visionaries and mystics they were intended to become. As we approach the tipping point between extinction and global spiritual awakening, there is a deep need for these prophets to embrace their spiritual gifts. To make this happen, we must learn to respect the sanctity of madness. We need to cultivate Mad Pride. Exploring the rise of Mad Pride and the mental patients’ liberation movement as well as building upon psychiatrist R. D. Laing’s revolutionary theories, Seth Farber, Ph.D., explains that diagnosing people as mad has more to do with social control than therapy. Many of those labeled as schizophrenic, bipolar, and other kinds of “mad” are not ill but simply experiencing different forms of spiritual awakening: they are seeing and feeling what is wrong with society and what needs to be done to change it. Farber shares his interviews with former schizophrenics who now lead successful and inspiring lives. He shows that it is impossible for society to change as long as the mad are suppressed because they are our catalysts of social change. By reclaiming their rightful role as prophets of spiritual and cultural revitalization, the mad--by seeding new visions for our future--can help humanity overcome the spiritual crisis that endangers our survival and lead us to a higher and long-awaited stage of spiritual development.

Download or read book The Adventure written by Lynn Johnson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-12-16 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a gripping, brutally honest, true story of the author's journey through five psychotic episodes. At the age of 53, she was diagnosed with depression and psychosis. Over the next four years and five hospitalizations, the diagnosis became a schizo-affective disorder. This mental illness is considered a more severe form of schizophrenia. The author interweaves her psychosis with her life-long spiritual journey and looks for the gifts that this illness has brought to her. She believes that her experiences deepened her compassion for other beings and her relationship to the Universe. She gives practical examples of how to engage a person mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. She believes that these aspects of a person, including someone with a mental illness, cannot be separated. The author hopes that those who have a mental illness and their caregivers, family, friends, nurses, counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists, as well as the general public, may gain new insights into the treatment and nature of mental illness.

Book Synopsis Hearing Voices, Demonic and Divine by : Christopher C. H. Cook
Download or read book Hearing Voices, Demonic and Divine written by Christopher C. H. Cook and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781472453983, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivative 4.0 license. Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.

Book excerpt: For more than a century, anthropologists and psychiatrists engage in conversations concerning relationships between embodied well-being and religion. Taking account of shifting meanings of 'religion' in global modernities, the included essays reveal how historically and culturally embedded local encounters between psychiatry, religious experience, and ritual healing contribute to an increasing diversification of 'mental health.' The multitude of theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches brought to the field in the global north and the global south introduce novel insights into current debates between clinical practitioners, ethnographic fieldworkers, and historians of psychiatry.
