Book Synopsis The Routledge Companion to Innovation Management by : Jin Chen
Download or read book The Routledge Companion to Innovation Management written by Jin Chen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-14 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation contributes to corporate competitiveness, economic performance and environmental sustainability. In the Internet era, innovation intelligence is transferred across borders and languages at an unprecedented rate, yet the ability to benefit from it seems to become more divergent among different corporations and countries. How much an organization can benefit from innovation largely depends on how well innovation is managed in it. Thus, there is a discernible increase in interest in the study of innovation management. This handbook provides a comprehensive guide to this subject. The handbook introduces the basic framework of innovation and innovation management. It also presents innovation management from the perspectives of strategy, organization and resource, as well as institution and culture. The book’s comprehensive coverage on all areas of innovation management makes this a very useful reference for anyone interested in the subject.

Book Synopsis A Populist Exception? by : Jack Vowles
Download or read book A Populist Exception? written by Jack Vowles and published by ANU Press. This book was released on 2020-08-10 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ‘spectre of populism’ might be an apt description for what is happening in different parts of the world, but does it apply to New Zealand? Immediately after New Zealand’s 2017 general election, populist party New Zealand First gained a pivotal role in a coalition with the Labour Party, leading some international observers to suggest it represented a populist capture of the government. The leader of New Zealand First, Winston Peters, justified his support for Labour as necessary to allow capitalism to ‘regain … its human face’. The new prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, spoke of a kinder, inclusive politics. This book draws on the 2017 New Zealand Election Study to uncover New Zealanders’ political attitudes and preferences post-election. Its authors ask: is New Zealand now A Populist Exception? Through detailed empirical analyses of how populism and authoritarianism affected vote choice, opinions about immigration, satisfaction with democracy and the relevance of gender and indigeneity to these issues, this book finds that New Zealand politics today does not reflect the international trend toward ideological polarisation and electoral volatility. The authors argue that inclusive forms of populism can be pluralist if a leader’s rhetorical approach recognises ‘the people’ as diverse and encompassing. A Populist Exception? concludes that although populism has long been a strong current in New Zealand history, contemporary New Zealand exhibits a moderate form of populism, with liberal and pluralist values in balance with a strong commitment to majoritarian democracy.

Book Synopsis New Zealand and the Sea by : Frances Steel
Download or read book New Zealand and the Sea written by Frances Steel and published by Bridget Williams Books. This book was released on 2018 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a group of islands in the far south-west Pacific Ocean, New Zealand has a history that is steeped in the sea. Its people have encountered the sea in many different ways: along the coast, in port, on ships, beneath the waves, behind a camera, and in the realm of the imagination. While New Zealanders have continually altered their marine environments, the ocean, too, has influenced their lives. A multi-disciplinary work encompassing history, marine science, archaeology and visual culture, New Zealand and the Sea explores New Zealand’s varied relationship with the sea, challenging the conventional view that history unfolds on land. Leading and emerging scholars highlight the dynamic, ocean-centred history of these islands and their inhabitants, offering fascinating new perspectives on New Zealand’s pasts. ‘The ocean has profoundly shaped culture across this narrow archipelago . . . The meeting of land and sea is central in historical accounts of Polynesian discovery and colonisation; European exploratory voyaging; sealing, whaling and the littoral communities that supported these plural occupations; and the mass migrant passage from Britain.’ – Frances Steel

Book excerpt: This book examines the advertising posters, town plans and geographical views that encouraged middle-class emigration to New Zealand in the 1840s. It explores how the New Zealand Company exploited visual literacy to advertise its settlement in Te Whanganui ā Tara Wellington. A tale of two towns, prospective English settlers looked to Wellington to make their homes, while Te Whanganui ā Tara was already home to numerous Māori sub-tribes. The book explores the worlds of each to ask how the images produced by the New Zealand Company were complicit in transferring Māori land into English ownership. Not seeking blame, it works instead to understand, and investigates processes of redress, offering hope for a post post-colonial future in Aotearoa New Zealand. This book will interest scholars and students of migration, visual culture and print history.

This book was released on 2023-12-15 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Those who venture into the realm of ecosystem advantage will discover a complex web of relationships, interfaces, and processes designed to efficiently deliver customer value. One important factor in the process of building an enterprise that is often overlooked is that a business's success is inevitably entwined with the performance of its surrounding ecosystem. Spanning a tapestry of firms, institutions, and individuals, this ecosystem forms the linchpin of success. However, the journey to prosperity demands more than the mere existence of a thriving ecosystem; it necessitates adept management and cultivation of relationships within it. Ecosystem Dynamics and Strategies for Startups Scalability uncovers the nuances of connecting complementary participants, navigating uncertainty among diverse partners, and securing a substantial share of the created value. As a testament to its academic rigor, the book discerns that fostering an ecosystem often hinges upon a "lead firm" orchestrating key value-contributing elements, or that the government enacting conducive policies. The book also extends far into diverse facets of resource management, ecosystem construction, and startup scalability, all rooted in comprehensive theoretical analysis. Bridging theory and practice, it furnishes case studies and best practices to accentuate these concepts. As economies worldwide reset post-pandemic, the book assumes greater relevance, illuminating the path for startups to thrive in emerging markets. Scholars, postgraduates, practitioners, and policymakers alike stand to gain a wealth of knowledge, from the evolution of resource management and ecosystems to their pivotal roles in startup success.

Book Synopsis Adaptations in the Franchise Era by : Kyle Meikle
Download or read book Adaptations in the Franchise Era written by Kyle Meikle and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2019-01-24 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adaptations in the Franchise Era re-evaluates adaptation's place in a popular culture marked by the movement of content and audiences across more media borders than ever before. While adaptation has historically been understood as the transfer of stories from one medium to another-more often than not, from novel to film-the growing interconnectedness of media and media industries in the early twenty-first century raises new questions about the form and function of adaptation as both a product and a process. Where does adaptation fit within massive franchises that span pages, stages, screens, and theme parks? Rising scholar Kyle Meikle illuminates adaptation's enduring and essential role in the rise of franchises in the 2000s and 2010s. During that decade-and-a-half, adaptations set the foundation for multiplexed, multiplied film series, piloted streaming television's forays into original programming, found their way into audiences' hands in apps and video games, and went live in theatrical experiences on Broadway and beyond. The proliferation of adaptations was matched only by a proliferation of adaptation, as fans remixed and remade their favourite franchises online and off-. This volume considers how producers and consumers defined adaptations-and how adaptations defined themselves-through the endless intertextual play of the franchise era.
