Book excerpt: Cat was perfectly happy as the pampered pet of her devoted mistress—even with the irritating Hound in residence—until Fairy Godmother changed her to a young woman to help servant girl, Cinderella, catch her duke. That success has now gifted the animals temporary humanity and released them into the world to fend for themselves. Cat hatches a scheme to find herself a rich husband—with help from the other animals and a secret stash of her owner's money. Hound's only plan is to ruin Cat's plan. As if learning the rules of polite society weren't difficult enough, London is awash with murders, courtesy of Shadow Man. He kills his victims to leech magic from them and transformed animals are chock full of magic. When circumstances throw Cat and Hound into the path of Shadow Man, they must find a way to escape his clutches and end the Season with their human forms intact. Through the candlelit ballrooms of society's upper echelons and across the dark and narrow streets of London, Shadow Man will become the predator and Cat and Hound, his prey.

Download or read book Moyna Garh written by Arindam Bhowmik and published by Arindam Bhowmik. This book was released on with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moyna Garh - Fort of Moyna Royal Family. The fort is devided into two parts outside and inside. Inside is 5,62,500 sq ft. Surrounded by 150 ft wide cannel. Local people use to take shelter during Bargi (Maratha Dacoits) attack. Moynagarh has a very rich cultural heritage, and it lies almost obscure now. Mediaeval literature and the oral traditions are eloquent on its past glory & grandeur, that push its antiquity several hundred years back. Situated in the vicinity of the ancient city-port of Tamralipta, the structure of this fort is unique and seems to be unparalleled. The fort proper is encircled by two concentric wide moats with hillock-like huge mounds. There had been crocodiles in the deep water, wild animals in the dense forest and ever-ready cannons in different lofty corners. This fort is reminiscent of legendary king Lausen (10th Century), and the Bahubalindras of Balisita (1434) who came here in 1561-62 AD. Even today, the Hindu temples (Vaisnavas, Saivas, Shaktas), the Buddhist shrines, Mazhar-sharif of the Muslim saint Manikpir, the Mausoleum of the Mahanta are reverberated with solemn hymns & prayers of thousands of devotees of different religious faiths. Dipped in the lush green with placid water all around this picturesque environment is very much like an attractive dreamland

Download or read book Feminism and the Periodical Press, 1900-1918 written by Lucy Delap and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2006 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Edwardian period experienced a particularly vibrant periodical culture, with phenomenal growth in the numbers of titles published that were either aimed specifically at women, or else saw women as a key section of their readership or contributor group. It was an era of political ferment in which a number of 'progressive' traditions were formulated, shaped or abandoned, including socialism, feminism, modernism, empire politics, trade unionism and welfarism. Organized around some of the central themes of political thought and utopian thinking, this impressive collection gathers together classic articles from key periodicals. The set presents a comprehensive sourcebook of readings on Edwardian/Progressive era feminist thought, exploring the intervention of the radical public intellectuals working in these traditions in North America and the UK from 1900-1918.
