La mise au point de laser à C02 guide d'onde ayant des caractéristiques fort différentes des lasers à onde libre nous a conduit à exploiter ses spécificités en spectroscopie intracavité haute résolution. Deux types de spectroscopie subDoppler ont ainsi été développés: - La spectroscopie de saturation. Dans ce cas, c'est la gamme d'accord importante du laser à C02 guide d'onde qui est exploitée. Le Bromure de Methyle a servi de gaz test. Les nombreuses observations ont permis une analyse détaillée de la bande de vibration v6 des deux espèces isotopiques. - La spectroscopie à deux photons à effet Doppler compensé. Cette technique de spectroscopie haute résolution est surtout utilisée dans le domaine visible. Son extension au domaine infrarouge n'est pas sans poser de problèmes. Nous montrons comment la disposition intracavité du gaz absorbant associée à l'utilisation d'un amplificateur à C02 guide d'onde réalise un compromis entre les différents paramètres intervenant dans le processus d'absorption à deux photons (densité de puissance gamme d'accord, résolution). Nous avons appliqué cette méthode de spectroscopie à l'étude de la bande de vibration v3 = 0 + v3 = 2 de SF6, molécule type pour les expériences d'excitation multiphotonique. Par ailleurs, une nouvelle voie de recherche permettant 1'étude d'absorption à deux photons a été mise au point : le gaz absorbant est placé dans une cavité passive en dehors de cette cavité laser. Cette configuration originale fournit une phénoménologie riche dont les principaux aspects sont abordés. Au cours de ces études, de nombreux effets ont été observés et analysés: régime de Q-switch (automodulation de la puissance laser), régime de bistabilité d'absorption, de bistabilité dispersive, dispersion à deux photons.

Book excerpt: [Résumé en français]Cette thèse présente des mesures spectroscopiques des transitions 6S-8P d'un échantillon d'atomes de Césium refroidis dans un piège magnéto-optique. La transition 6S-8P du Césium (de largeur de raie 500 KHz environ) est un bon candidat pour devenir un nouveau standard de fréquence secondaire dans le proche UV. La fréquence de cette transition pourrait être directement mesurée en comparant son premier sous-harmonique (2*389nm) avec un étalon en fréquence :"La transition à deux photons à 778 nm dans le Rubidium". En outre, la spectroscopie à haute résolution peut bénéficier spectaculairement des techniques de refroidissement laser. La réduction du mouvement thermique des atomes améliore les performances des standard de fréquence en tirant principalement avantage de la réduction de l'effet Doppler et d'un temps d'interaction plus long. Pour ces raisons, un échantillon d'atomes froids pourrait reprèsenter un puissant outil pour la spectroscopie à haute résolution. Dans le but d'interroger ces atomes froids, nous utilisons un laser titane-saphir continu doublé en fréquence développé dans notre équipe. La fréquence du laser est préstabilisée sur le flanc d'un pic de transmission d'une cavité Fabry-Pérot de référence. La lumière ultraviolette est générée dans un cristal de LBO placé dans une cavité résonnante externe. Nous hachons mécaniquement le laser de piégeage et nous détectons la fluorescence en cascade du niveau 7P à 450 nm, sans les lasers de piégeage ni le gradient de champ magnétique, avec un système de comptage de photons. La résolution des mesures est de (1,0 ± 0,2)MHZ
