Book Synopsis Molten Salt Techniques by : Robert J. Gale
Download or read book Molten Salt Techniques written by Robert J. Gale and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second volume carries on the excellent work of its predecessor, ex tending its scope to other melts and to other techniques. It continues to present first-hand understanding and experience of this difficult and demanding field. There is ever present the trade-off or reconciliation between the novel chemistry of systems not dominated by the mediating influence of a supposedly indifferent solvent and the high temperatures required to effect the fluidity of the system. At the limit, the very high temperatures so increase the rates of all reactions as to dissolve the temporal difference between the thermodynamic and the kinetic view of chemistry. What can happen will happen and invariably does happen. Vessels corrode, the apparatus becomes a reactant, and the number of tolerant materials able to withstand the attack shrinks to graphite, boron carbide or, if all else fails, to frozen parts of the molten salt itself. It is probably true that there is no limit to man's ingenuity but I believe that God gave us molten salts just to test that thesis. If there is ever a Molten Salt Club, and Englishmen love clubs, its membership will be exclusive. It would certainly include the authors of this series. Graham Hills University of Strathclyde ix Preface In the first volume of this series, we expressed our contention that a real need existed for practical guidance in the field of molten salt experimentation.

Download or read book Interprétation des spectres de masse en couplage GC-MS - cours et exerices corrigés written by BOUCHONNET Stéphane and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-09-04 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Advances in Organic Geochemistry by : G. D. Hobson
Download or read book Advances in Organic Geochemistry written by G. D. Hobson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2015-12-04 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Organic Geochemistry is a collection of proceedings presented at the Third International Congress on Organic Geochemistry held in London on September 26-28, 1966. The papers explore advances in organic geochemistry and cover a wide range of topics, from carbon isotope variations in marine sediments to hydrogen isotopic fractionation of water passing through trees. Correlation problems among crude oils and the origin of trace metal enrichment in bituminous shales are also discussed. Comprised of 34 chapters, this volume begins by presenting the results of a carbon isotope study on methane from German coal deposits, followed by an analysis of the significance of carbon isotope variations in marine sediments. Subsequent chapters deal with the geochemical aspects of the occurrence of porphyrins in mineral oils and rocks in West Venezuela; pentacyclic triterpanes from petroleum; geochemical prospecting for petroleum; and the geochemical significance of pore fluid in shales. The nitrogenous constituents of deep-sea sediments are also considered, along with transformations of normal fatty acids in sediments and thermal alteration of organic matter in sediments. This book will be of interest to organic chemists and geochemists.
Book Synopsis Pharmacology, Doping and Sports by : Jean L. Fourcroy
Download or read book Pharmacology, Doping and Sports written by Jean L. Fourcroy and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2008-10-27 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work of dope testers is constantly being obstructed by the development of ever harder-to-trace new forms of banned substances. Organisations such as the World Anti-Doping Association and the United States Anti-Doping Agency are pioneering cutting-edge techniques designed to keep competition at the highest level fair and safe, and must ensure that their drug testing laboratories adhere to the highest scientific standards. In Pharmacology, Doping and Sports these techniques and procedures are explained by the anti-doping experts who practice them. Broad-ranging in scope, this book examines the effects of performance-enhancing substances on the athlete’s health; the role of anti-doping procedures as an ethical question, and explains the background to, and the emergence of, the anti-doping movement. The book also offers in-depth analysis of key scientific matters, such as: standard analytical and diagnostic tests for sports doping regulatory standards for laboratory proficiency common performance-enhancing techniques such as anabolic and designer steroids, blood doping, growth hormones, and gene doping carbon-isotope ratio testing. Written by some of the world's leading authorities on the science of sports doping, Pharmacology, Doping and Sports provides an invaluable study of up-to-the-minute anti-doping techniques. This book is essential reading for all sports scientists, coaches, policy-makers, students and athletes interested in the science or ethics of doping in sport.

Download or read book Phytomicronutriments written by IFN and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-04-20 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
