Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The US Department of Justice's National Institute of Justice (NIJ) asked the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of The National Academies to conduct a workshop that would examine the interface of the medicolegal death investigation system and the criminal justice system. NIJ was particularly interested in a workshop in which speakers would highlight not only the status and needs of the medicolegal death investigation system as currently administered by medical examiners and coroners but also its potential to meet emerging issues facing contemporary society in America. Additionally, the workshop was to highlight priority areas for a potential IOM study on this topic. To achieve those goals, IOM constituted the Committee for the Workshop on the Medicolegal Death Investigation System, which developed a workshop that focused on the role of the medical examiner and coroner death investigation system and its promise for improving both the criminal justice system and the public health and health care systems, and their ability to respond to terrorist threats and events. Six panels were formed to highlight different aspects of the medicolegal death investigation system, including ways to improve it and expand it beyond its traditional response and meet growing demands and challenges. This report summarizes the Workshop presentations and discussions that followed them.

Book Synopsis What Really Happened In Wuhan by : Sharri Markson
Download or read book What Really Happened In Wuhan written by Sharri Markson and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2021-10-01 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walkley Award-winning journalist, Sharri Markson is the Investigations Editor at The Australian and host of prime-time show Sharri on Sky News Australia. The origins of Covid-19 are shrouded in mystery. Scientists and government officials insisted, for a year and a half, that the virus had a natural origin, ridiculing anyone who dared contradict this view. Tech giants swept the internet, censoring and silencing debate in the most extreme fashion. Yet it is undeniable that a secretive facility in Wuhan was immersed in genetically manipulating bat-coronaviruses in perilous experiments. And as soon as the news of an outbreak in Wuhan leaked, the Chinese military took control and gagged all laboratory insiders. Part-thriller, part-expose, What Really Happened in Wuhan is a ground-breaking investigation from leading journalist Sharri Markson into the origins of Covid-19, the cover-ups, the conspiracies and the classified research. It features never-before-seen primary documents exposing China's concealment of the virus, fresh interviews with whistleblower doctors in Wuhan and crucial eyewitness accounts that dismantle what we thought we knew about when the outbreak hit. With unprecedented access to Washington insiders, Markson takes you inside the White House, with senior Trump lieutenants revealing first-hand accounts of fiery Oval Office clashes and new stories of compromised government advisors and censored scientists. Bravely reported and chillingly laid out, Markson brings to light the stories of the pandemic from the people on the ground: the scientists and national security officials who raised uncomfortable truths and were labelled conspiracy theorists, until government agencies began to suspect they might have been right all along. These brave individuals persisted through bruising battles and played a crucial role in investigating the origins of Covid-19 to finally, in this book, bring us closer to the truth of what really happened in Wuhan.

Download or read book The Hynek UFO Report written by Joel Hynek and published by Red Wheel. This book was released on 2020-01-13 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ultimate guide to Project Blue Book by one of the lead astronomers for the US Air Force program to investigate UFO sightings. Originally released in 1977, this new edition by the world's foremost authority on UFOs distills 12,000 sightings and 140,000 pages of Project Blue Book evidence into a coherent explanation. A US Air Force - sponsored UFO-basher for years, Hynek had completely changed his tune by the late 1960s. Whether you believe in little green men or an official government cover-up policy, The Hynek UFO Report is required reading. Have UFOs really been reported by every nation across the globe? Can all the eyewitness reports simply be fantasy? Are we victims of mass hallucination or just plain lies? Have close encounters actually occurred? Is the government concealing deep secrets at a hidden location? The Hynek UFO Report is rational, logical, and realistic. It is for anyone interested in UFOs, the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and the role of the US government in hiding the truth from the public.

Book Synopsis Special Investigation Techniques in Relation to Serious Crimes Including Acts of Terrorism by : Council of Europe. Committee of Ministers
Download or read book Special Investigation Techniques in Relation to Serious Crimes Including Acts of Terrorism written by Council of Europe. Committee of Ministers and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2005 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to combat terrorism and serious crime, law enforcement authorities have had to adapt their investigative means and develop special investigation techniques. These techniques are used to systematically gather information in such a way that they do not alert those being investigated. Since there is a risk that they may infringe individual rights, special investigation techniques must be subject to control. This has been advocated by the European Court of Human Rights which "has already recognised the need, inherent in the Convention system, for a proper balance between the defence of the institutions of democracy in the common interest and the protection of individual rights". This publication contains Recommendation Rec(2005)10 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on "special investigation techniques" in relation to serious crimes including acts of terrorism. It aims at promoting the effective use of special investigation techniques by judicial and prosecuting authorities in the framework of their criminal investigations in relation to serious crimes, including acts of terrorism, whilst ensuring strict respect for the rights and freedoms of the individual.
