After he is sent to his Aunt Carrie's farm for two weeks as part of his punishment for a recent indiscretion, Randy prepares to embrace the seemingly idyllic country life. But as he stands at a crossroads between boyhood and manhood, Randy must first confront the challenges that await him before he can continue any further on his path to maturity. But when her marriage fizzles out, Heather has to decide what sort of life to live next. Ready to seek out her own happiness and discover herself again, Heather decides to leave her husband and rent a cottage on Nantucket. Worst of all for Heather, this means having to get along with her. Kailee Essex is thrilled that Ross is willing to move to her hometown. She has big hopes for their happily ever after, especially now that her parents are finally showing interest in her career. She’s less thrilled, however, about his mother living nearby. Kailee has clashed with Heather since the day they met. But anything is possible in the summer sun and sea breezes of Nantucket—even reconciliation. And when change comes sooner than either Heather or Kailee expect, they must learn to overcome their differences to fight for the future they want. With All the Days of Summer, beloved storyteller Nancy Thayer delivers a moving novel that explores the complexity of family and the unexpected ways fate can guide you forward.

Frightened by the noise, he creeps into the dark hallway and opens the door to his parents’ room. He sees his mother lying in a pool of blood, dead of a gunshot wound. He is later told that she committed suicide. The incident leaves a deep psychological scar, and Patrick’s life is never the same. He suppresses his memory of that night for most of his adult life until, against his will, he is forced to confront the truth of it. Through hypnotherapy sessions, he discovers that his mother’s death was not a suicide. It was murder. With the help of one of the original detectives on the case, Patrick tries to find the real killer forty years after the fact. The pulsating search does more than unravel a murder mystery; it becomes a journey of self-discovery for Patrick. His notions of fate, free will, and the true nature of existence are transformed. Funny, bittersweet, and shocking, The Last Days of Summer is a vivid remembrance of one man’s painful and poignant childhood, and how he comes to terms with it in middle age.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The Summer of 61” was the title of a song sung by the "Boss" himself, Bruce Springstein. Now it is the title of a book written by an author in the Blue Bayou Country of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If you want a murder mystery don't read this book. However, if you like the mysteries of life this is the book for you. Did Skeeter ever marry his childhood sweetheart? This is a true to life love story not only between friends and family but of the love of life itself. The “Summer of 61” is just that, a summer in a boys life. A summer filled with the dreams, the hopes, and all the anticipations of a young lad envisioning his future. It is also a reflection, under those marshmallow skies of Louisiana through kaleidoscope eyes of an earlier life. The novel is stimulating, interesting, mixture of fact and fiction about dreams that never did quiet make it to reality. To me it was also a self-help book. It will make you snicker, bring a tear to your eye, and perhaps a wake-up call to reality. Reading this book gave me the opportunity to know the author just a little bit better. It also made me realize that today my dreams in life have changed. Where once I dreamed of becoming an award winning Journalist, today I dream of making a 2,000-mile trip to throw my arms around my son's neck and to make some memories with my grandchildren. I don’t live in Louisiana. I live in Canada. The book shows that no matter who we are or where we live, we are so similar and so are our needs. The novel is about family, love, life, and dreams. You can’t read “The Summer of 61” without being changed. Linda Shirley- Canada
