Book Synopsis Hurricane Monitoring With Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar by : Xiaofeng Li
Download or read book Hurricane Monitoring With Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar written by Xiaofeng Li and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-17 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses in detail the science and morphology of powerful hurricane detection systems. It broadly addresses new approaches to monitoring hazards using freely available images from the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) Sentinel-1 SAR satellite and benchmarks a new interdisciplinary field at the interface between oceanography, meteorology and remote sensing. Following the launch of the first European Space Agency (ESA) operational synthetic aperture radar satellite, Sentinel-1, in 2014, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data has been freely available on the Internet hub in real-time. This advance allows weather forecasters to view hurricanes in fine detail for the first time. As a result, the number of synthetic aperture radar research scientists working in this field is set to grow exponentially in the next decade; the book is a valuable resource for this large and budding audience.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Ocean Dynamics by : Maged Marghany
Download or read book Nonlinear Ocean Dynamics written by Maged Marghany and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Ocean Dynamics: Synthetic Aperture Radar delivers the critical tools needed to understand the latest technology surrounding the radar imaging of nonlinear waves, particularly microwave radar, as a main source to understand, analyze and apply concepts in the field of ocean dynamic surface. Filling the gap between modern physics quantum theory and applications of radar imaging of ocean dynamic surface, this reference is packed with technical details associated with the potentiality of synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The book also includes key methods needed to extract the value-added information necessary, such as wave spectra energy, current pattern velocity, internal waves, and more. This book also reveals novel speculation of a shallow coastal front: named as Quantized Marghany's Front. Rounding out with practical simulations of 4-D wave-current interaction patterns using using radar images, the book brings an effective new source of technology and applications for today’s coastal scientists and engineers. Solves specific problems surrounding the nonlinearity of ocean surface dynamics in synthetic aperture radar data Helps develop new algorithms for retrieving ocean wave spectra and ocean current movements from synthetic aperture radar Includes over 100 equations that illustrate how to follow examples in the book
Book Synopsis Radar Imaging of the Ocean Waves by : Mikhail B. Kanevsky
Download or read book Radar Imaging of the Ocean Waves written by Mikhail B. Kanevsky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-09-15 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to studying the ocean with radar tools, in particular, with space radars. Being intended mainly for the scientists preoccupied with the problem (as well as senior course students), it concentrates and generalizes the knowledge scattered over specialized journals. The significant part of the book contains the results obtained by the author. Systematically collects and describes the approaches used by different laboratories and institutions Deals with the physics of radar imagery and specifically with ocean surface imagery Useful for students and researchers specializing in the area of ocean remote sensing using airborne or space-borne radars, both SAR and RAR

Book Synopsis Oceanography from Space by : J. F. Gower
Download or read book Oceanography from Space written by J. F. Gower and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 939 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on the proceedings of the COSPAR/SCOR/ IUCRM Symposium "Oceanography From Space" held in May 1980 in Venice, Italy. COSPAR (The Committee for Space Research) suggested holding a joint symposium with SCOR (The Scientific Committee for Oceanic Research) as a major review of space oceanography. Since this meeting fitted well with a series of colloquia organized by the IUCRM (The Inter-Union Commission on Radio Meteorology), these three bodies joined in sponsoring the meeting. The conference was hald 16 years after the first discussions of possible spaceborne observations of the ocean at a meeting organized in 1964 in Woods Hole. Gifford'Ewing was then keen to see oceanography benefit from the new satellite technology being developed, and he begins this volume by noting that most of the suggestions put forward in 1964 have now, at last, been successfully demonstrated in practice. The papers that follow show the variety of measurement techniques available or possible, and many of the types of studies in which they can be used. Papers are arranged in a general section, and in 6 specialized sections each of which starts with a brief introduction summarizing important results.
