The issue is indeed in the hands ofa higher power than that of man, but we are not the less called upon to strenuous exertion; and if we cordially unite towards mutual protection, neither blinded by prejudices nor deceived by vain fallacies, I see no reason to fear but that 'that Providence, who has preserved us our present blessings through many dangers and difficulties, will continue them uninjured through succeeding generations.
