Abel Dinsmore, One of the Earliest Settlers of Conway, Mass Most of the Dinsmore Genealogy contained in this pam phlet is the genealogy of the descendants of William Dinsmore and his wife, Submit (belding) Dinsmore, of Conway, Mass, and was obtained while compiling some Belding Genealogy. Some of those descendants, who had kindly assisted in the compilation, having expressed a desire to have a copy of their genealogy, it has been prefaced with such previous Dinsmore Genealogy as could be conveniently obtained, and a few copies of the whole are printed mainly to meet their wishes, and not for circulation. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Doane Family: I. Deacon John Doane, of Plymouth; II. Doctor John Done, of Maryland; And Their Descendants; With Notes Upon English Families of the Name Several attempts, with greater or less degree of success, have been made to collect and compile the records of the Doane family in Amer ica, and in this connection several individuals in particular should have more than a passing notice. Beginning about the year 1880, the late John A. Doane of Atlanta, Ga., spent much thought, time and money in compiling a manuscript record of his ancestors. He died before completing the work, and the result of his researches, kindly placed at our disposal by his fam ily, is incorporated into this book. About the same time Alfred J. Doane of Jersey City, be came interested in the subject of the family history, and the account we have given of Israel Doane (235) and his descendants is the re sult of his extensive correspondence and persistent research among original records of Bucks and Chester counties, Pa. Beginning with its issue of June 9, 1885, the Doylestown Democrat of Doylestown, Pa., published a series of papers on the genealogy of the Pennsylvania branch of the family written by the late Dr. Buck man of Philadelphia. On Dr. Buckman's death a year or two later. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from History of Charles Dixon: One of the Early English Settlers of Sackville, N. B The object of the writer in compiling the within pages, is to give to the present and future generations some knowledge of their ancestry; and to put on record certain facts and events connected with their history, and as possible to record the names of the descendants of Charles Dixon down to the current year. To obtain the names of all, was found to be quite impracticable. The writer has personally visited numerous families, written scores and scores of letters, traveled hundreds of miles, and diligently sought to obtain the information embodied in these pages; and while sincerely grateful for the measure of success attained, he deeply regrets that further greatly desired information respecting many of the families proved beyond his reach. For the errors and imperfections the work contains, he feels he may reasonably claim forbearance. The work has no claim or merit in a literary sense, the object sought being a simple, brief statement of facts and circumstances of little interest to any excepting the descendants of the aforesaid Charles Dixon. It was at first intended to bring the record down to the close of 1888, at which date some portion of the material had been collected. Circumstances, however, delayed the collection of the required information until a more recent period. Consequently it is probable many interesting events may have occurred in connection with those families from whom he had obtained his information at the period first named, which are not recorded herein. To all who have aided him in his search for information, (who are too numerous to be recounted by name) his sincerest thanks are respectfully tendered.
