This book was released on 2005 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of Hilbert spaces plays a central role in contemporary mathematics with numerous applications for Linear Operators, Partial Differential Equations, in Nonlinear Analysis, Approximation Theory, Optimisation Theory, Numerical Analysis, Probability Theory, Statistics and other fields. The Schwarz, triangle, Bessel, Gram and most recently, Grüss type inequalities have been frequently used as powerful tools in obtaining bounds or estimating the errors for various approximation formulae occurring in the domains mentioned above. Therefore, any new advancement related to these fundamental facts will have a flow of important consequences in the mathematical fields where these inequalities have been used before.

This book was released on 2018 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main aim of this monograph is to survey some recent results obtained by the author related to reverses of the Schwarz, triangle and Bessel inequalities. Some Grüss' type inequalities for orthonormal families of vectors in real or complex inner product spaces are presented as well. Generalizations of the Boas-Bellman, Bombieri, Selberg, Heilbronn and Pečarić inequalities for finite sequences of vectors that are not necessarily orthogonal are also provided. Two extensions of the celebrated Ostrowski's inequalities for sequences or real numbers and the generalization of Wagner's inequality in inner product spaces are pointed out. Finally, some Grüss type inequalities for n-tuples of vectors in inner product spaces and their natural applications for the approximation of the discrete Fourier and Mellin transforms are given as well.

Book Synopsis Inner Product Structures by : V.I. Istratescu
Download or read book Inner Product Structures written by V.I. Istratescu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 909 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approach your problems from the right end It isn't that they can't see the solution. It is and begin with the answers. Then one day, that they can't see the problem. perhaps you will find the final question. G. K. Chesterton. The Scandal of Father 'The Hermit Oad in Crane Feathers' in R. Brown 'The point of a Pin'. van Gulik's The Chinese Maze Murders. Growing specialization and diversification have brought a host of monographs and textbooks on increasingly specialized topics. However, the "tree" of knowledge of mathematics and related fields does not grow only by putting forth new branches. It also happens, quite often in fact, that branches which were thought to be completely disparate are suddenly seen to be related. Further, the kind and level of sophistication of mathematics applied in various sciences has changed drastically in recent years: measure theory is used (non-trivially) in regional and theoretical economics; algebraic geometry interacts with physics; the Minkowsky lemma, coding theory and the structure of water meet one another in packing and covering theory; quantum fields, crystal defects and mathematical programming profit from homotopy theory; Lie algebras are relevant to filtering; and prediction and electrical engineering can use Stein spaces. And in addition to this there are such new emerging subdisciplines as "experimental mathematics", "CFD", "completely integrable systems", "chaos, synergetics and large-scale order", which are almost impossible to fit into the existing classification schemes. They draw upon widely different sections of mathematics.

Book Synopsis An Introduction to Finite Tight Frames by : Shayne F. D. Waldron
Download or read book An Introduction to Finite Tight Frames written by Shayne F. D. Waldron and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-03 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is an introduction to the theory and applications of finite tight frames, an area that has developed rapidly in the last decade. Stimulating much of this growth are the applications of finite frames to diverse fields such as signal processing, quantum information theory, multivariate orthogonal polynomials, and remote sensing. Featuring exercises and MATLAB examples in each chapter, the book is well suited as a textbook for a graduate course or seminar involving finite frames. The self-contained, user-friendly presentation also makes the work useful as a self-study resource or reference for graduate students, instructors, researchers, and practitioners in pure and applied mathematics, engineering, mathematical physics, and signal processing.

Book Synopsis Geometric Integration Theory by : Steven G. Krantz
Download or read book Geometric Integration Theory written by Steven G. Krantz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-15 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook introduces geometric measure theory through the notion of currents. Currents, continuous linear functionals on spaces of differential forms, are a natural language in which to formulate types of extremal problems arising in geometry, and can be used to study generalized versions of the Plateau problem and related questions in geometric analysis. Motivating key ideas with examples and figures, this book is a comprehensive introduction ideal for both self-study and for use in the classroom. The exposition demands minimal background, is self-contained and accessible, and thus is ideal for both graduate students and researchers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In celebration of Princeton University's 250th anniversary, the mathematics department held a conference entitled "Prospects in Mathematics". The purpose of the conference was to speculate on future directions of research in mathematics. This collection of articles provides a rich panorama of current mathematical activity in many research areas. From Gromov's lecture on quantitative differential topology to Witten's discussion of string theory, new ideas and techniques transfixed the audience of international mathematicians. The volume contains 11 articles by leading mathematicians, including historical presentations by J. Milnor and D. Spencer. It provides a guide to some of the most significant mathematical work of the past decade.
Book Synopsis Expansion in Finite Simple Groups of Lie Type by : Terence Tao
Download or read book Expansion in Finite Simple Groups of Lie Type written by Terence Tao and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-04-16 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Expander graphs are an important tool in theoretical computer science, geometric group theory, probability, and number theory. Furthermore, the techniques used to rigorously establish the expansion property of a graph draw from such diverse areas of mathematics as representation theory, algebraic geometry, and arithmetic combinatorics. This text focuses on the latter topic in the important case of Cayley graphs on finite groups of Lie type, developing tools such as Kazhdan's property (T), quasirandomness, product estimates, escape from subvarieties, and the Balog-Szemerédi-Gowers lemma. Applications to the affine sieve of Bourgain, Gamburd, and Sarnak are also given. The material is largely self-contained, with additional sections on the general theory of expanders, spectral theory, Lie theory, and the Lang-Weil bound, as well as numerous exercises and other optional material.
