En esta segunda edición, a partir de la experiencia y sugerencias de profesores que imparten la materia, se han ampliado los contenidos y se ha aumentado la información gráfica. También se han propuesto un nuevo orden y tipo de prácticas. La soldadura con máquinas semiautomáticas (MIG-MAG) ha revolucionado la producción en las empresas por su gran tasa de deposición y por la calidad de las uniones. Además, tiene a su favor su facilidad de automatización, que puede ser desde un simple carro de desplazamiento hasta su colocación en un brazo robot. Esto hace que sea uno de los procedimientos más utilizados en la actualidad. La soldadura TIG es una de las soldaduras más limpias y seguras que existen. Con ella se suelen hacer las soldaduras más difíciles y en los materiales más complicados, así como cordones de raíz para asegurar una penetración buena y fiable. Actualmente, ha sustituido casi por completo al soplete. Un buen profesional de la soldadura tiene que conocer estos dos procedimientos. El libro está formado por dos partes diferenciadas: una con los contenidos conceptuales (teoría) y otra con los contenidos procedimentales (prácticas). Los autores, Cristóbal López Gálvez y Francisco Ramón Orozco Roldán, cuentan con una amplia experiencia en el mundo laboral y de 30 años dedicados a la docencia. Los dos son actualmente funcionarios de carrera y prestan servicio en el IES Politécnico de Sevilla. Además, han publicado otros cinco títulos de formación con esta editorial.
