Comprised of 17 chapters, the book organizes the chapters according to the topic of discussion, including framework, resource discipline, application experience, and issues for the future in DSS. The opening chapter is an introduction to the main topic of the book. Chapter 2 discusses frameworks for research on decision support systems, and Chapter 3 covers the decision support systems. The fourth chapter deals with organizational science contributions to the design of decision support systems, while the fifth chapter discusses using data bases for decision support. Chapter 6 tackles the overview of database technology in decision support systems, and Chapter 7 talks about doing and speaking in the office. The eighth chapter discusses a look back at an office of the future, while the ninth chapter covers the implications for research of installing a decision support system. Chapter 10 tackles the problems of design and implementation of computer-based decision support systems. Chapter 11 discusses an interactive modeling system for analysis of alternative decisions; Chapter 12 covers the structure of decision support systems. Chapters 13 to 15 review the group discussion during the conference about the issues for the future in DSS. This book will be of great interest to leaders, since it discusses the integration of technology in the interaction within an organization.
Book Synopsis Vector Calculus in Regional Development Analysis by : Kesra Nermend
Download or read book Vector Calculus in Regional Development Analysis written by Kesra Nermend and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-04-29 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods used for regional development analysis are employed mainly to make forecasts and comparisons. Forecasting models of various types (e.g. econometric models) are usually used for forecasting. Recently, vector-autoregressive models (VAR) have become popular. These models were proposed by Sims in 1980. On the contrary, taxonomic methods (that are in the center of attention as far as the present publication is concerned) are most often employed to make comparisons. Linear ordering methods, including standard methods, are the most popular among ta- nomic methods. They are based on different distance and similarity measures, which leads to the fact that they do not always provide reliable information. When, for example, one construes the standard for a base year and then compares it with data for other years, it may turn out that the measure determined will have worse values than the standard for a real object (region, micro region) although this object is better from the standard. Hence, one must look for new methods employed in regional development analysis or improve hitherto existing ones in such a way so that information obtained re?ects the reality to a larger extent. The main aim of the present publication is to work out methodological basis for regional development analysis based on vector calculus together with assumptions about computer system supporting the implementation of the method suggested.

Book Synopsis Securing an IT Organization through Governance, Risk Management, and Audit by : Ken E. Sigler
Download or read book Securing an IT Organization through Governance, Risk Management, and Audit written by Ken E. Sigler and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces two internationally recognized bodies of knowledge: COBIT 5 from a cybersecurity perspective and the NIST Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity (CSF). Emphasizing the processes directly related to governance, risk management, and audit, the book maps the CSF steps and activities to the methods defined in COBIT 5, extending the CSF objectives with practical and measurable activities that leverage operational risk understanding in a business context. This allows the ICT organization to convert high-level enterprise goals into manageable, specific goals rather than unintegrated checklist models.

Book Synopsis An Introduction to Systems Science by : John N. Warfield
Download or read book An Introduction to Systems Science written by John N. Warfield and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is the first book that renders a thorough discussion of systems science. It draws on material from an extensive collection of external sources, including several other books and a special library collection complete with videotape empirical evidence of applicability of the theory to a wide variety of circumstances. This is essential because systems science must be responsive to diverse human situations of the widest difficulty, and it must fill the void that the specific sciences cannot fill, because these sciences are insensitive to the necessities of reconciling disparate views of multiple observers, and incorporating local conditions in hypotheses that precede inductive explorations."--BOOK JACKET.
